How to clean/replace cigarette socket in 01 Conti?

I need to clean (or replace) the cigarette plug in the center console (the one close to dash (not the one underneath the armrest). I think previous owner spilled coffee and right now it is all rusted and stuff. Do I need to remove center console in order to do that? If yes, anyone has a diagram on how to to that?

The console cover is only held in place with clips.

Gently pry around the edges with a screwdriver until it pops free, put the shifter into 1st, and lift the cover/ashtray assembly up and rearwards. Reach underneath and unplug the lighter.

Once you have the new lighter assembly in your hands, you'll see how the socket unscrews from its outer case. Take that outer sleeve off and push the socket out.

Thanks for the advice. Following it i was able to remove the center console cover and clean the socket.
