Tie Rod Question

I talked to Max today at 5starford about getting an inner tie rod.

He told me that he rarely sells inner tie rod's because usually what happens when someone suspects the inner tie rod of being bad is the part of the car (dont know the name) which connects to the tie rod goes bad and not the tie rod which connects to it.

LM dealer told me the same thing - he routinely replaces outers / upper A arms / ball joints, but rarely sees worn inner tie rod ends on Marks. Go figure.
