Weird noise from the rear suspension

For a while now, i've been noticing that whenever i raise or lower the vehicle, sit in it, load it, or do something else that would affect the height of the rear end, i get a metallic clicking noise from what seems to be the left rear wheel. I can't tell where it's coming from. It does seem to happen when the car is moving, too, seemingly only when i hit bumps. It's hard to pinpoint, really. Tonight i plan on making sure the nut on the halfshaft is tight. I'll also see if i get the symptom when the center cap is off. Other than that, what could be the problem?

Would that really be a click, or maybe closer to a clunk?

I'd say click. Not deep or long enough in duration for me to consider it a clunk. I looked at the upper shock mounts, they have some wear, but this isn't the noise those make when they go bad.
