Sounds like you are low on brake fluid. Take the cap off, check the fluid level, and fill if necessary to the max line. Put the cap back on, and see if the light still comes on. If the cap gasket is extended out on the cap, push it in prior to putting the cap back on the brake fluid reservoir.

On my 1998, I have that happen sometimes. It is the parking brake pedal moving down just a little bit, making the brake light come on. See if tapping the parking pedal up with your foot makes the light go off.
