1997 Mark VIII Idle problem

I have a 97 Mark VIII and it will not idle when I start it. Sometimes after I run it for a while, it will begin to idle at a stop, but most times it won't. I am suspecting an idle sensor or throttle position control sensor or something. Can anyone help who has had a similar problem?
Thanks,
Jerry G in Minnesota

RE: 1997 Mark VIII Idle problem

The most likely suspect is the Idle Air Control, (IAC), valve. It's the little silver canister about the size of a roll of film that's held on to the throttle body at the top of the engine with 2 bolts and has an electrical connector. 'About $60 to replace.

Thought that was my problem too, but...Back to the dealer she goes. When she warms up the idle slips to below 500.:(
