Opinions please

I have my intake back from Joe, who welded it up and punched a hole through the side, then welded it up again. Anyway, I like the way it looks polished, but it looks a little funny and out of place under a hood with very little chrome underneath. I was thinking of painting mine black, and I painted a spare I have lying around so I could compare. I'd like to know everyones thoughts.

RE: Opinions please

looks like you need to chrome some more stuff. I am only guessing, but suspect that it took a long time to do that polish work. It would be a real shame to see all that hard work wasted with one can of spray paint.

RE: Opinions please

It didnt really take much work at all. And Joe did the work, he thinks it looks better black so I know I'm not offending him. There are also small blemishes that aren't noticeable in the pics, so it looks better in the pics than it does in front of you. I had also considered a glossy black. When I first saw Joes I thought it would look good polished too, but I saw it in his car and I think I would like black better.

RE: Opinions please

Think about doing the valve covers - or the plug covers. I think the chrome looks great!

Keep it!!!

RE: Opinions please

I'd keep the chrome, and get more dress up stuff. Geno will do valve covers for $150, then when you get your cool intake tube you told me about you're all set. Black is just so plain.

RE: Opinions please

I paid for my intake tube from STpro about 4 months ago, with alot of correspondence on my part. I havent gotten it, and when I asked for a refund my emails no longer got answered. If the intake looked chrome, I might like it more, but like I said it is far from it. I also heard that aluminum is hard to keep polished. I tried in a couple of spots to go over it with some 800 grit sandpaper and my buffer. It helped, but I still wasn't as happy as I thought I would be. We'll see how it goes. I appreciate all the input.

RE: Opinions please

If it was going ot sit on a table, I would leave it chrome finish, but you are right, my intake does look strange in the red whore.. Kinda out of place. TI is the only clean thing in there, and not black or red.

RE: Opinions please

How about a compromise? Some nice graphics would tone down the bright and still look good.

RE: Opinions please

Go with the chrome. I think it would help break up the engine area and make it look real nice. Maybe do a few other parts chrome also, but nothing overboard. Just my thought.

RE: Opinions please

I say put a lite candy color over it that would give it some shiny color, probably whatever color your car is. If its black..... ho hum

RE: Opinions please

My car is white. If it were any other color it would be the same as the exterior. I already had the same thought, intake and valve covers to match the exterior, I thought it would look awesome if it were like, red or green. I think it would look HORRIBLE if i did it in the white though. Since there is already alot of black under the hood already though, I thought I might like it black.

RE: Opinions please

Personally, I am anti-chrome. But that's just me.

RE: Opinions please

I really like chrome, but only done tastefully. Too much is really bad. White parts of the engine look really nice, but are a HUGE PAIN to keep clean. Its terrible, but looks beautiful, better on show cars than daily drivers.
