Speedo gears

I saw a posting on "another" site that said the Gen 2 Marks use a front wheel sensor instead of speedo gear in tranny. Does anyone know if this is true or not?
Thanks,

RE: Speedo gears

yes, you are correct, the speedo reads off the front wheels on the second gen as opposed to the tranny gear set up on the first gen

RE: Speedo gears

Does this mean you don't have to do any speedo corrections on a Gen 2 if you get new gears or your wheel/tire size is different than stock?

RE: Speedo gears

If your over all diameter of the tires is differnent you WILL have speedo inaccuracies, there isnt too much you can do about it, except get tires that are closest to the stock size. But you still will not need to make any adjustments, unless there is something that im not aware of. Fill me in Dan.

RE: Speedo gears

The gen 2 measures the speed from the wheel sensor. SO if rolling radius of the wheel changes, the speedo will be off. A chip may be able to correct this. If the gears are changed, the speedo will still be fine, but the car might hit the rev limiter before shifting (again, a chip would fix it). The gen 1 needs a different speedo gear when you change rear end gears.
