Installing the ported intake

Not going well so far. I got the intake on but something is not right, it may be because the IMRCs for a 96 are very much different than any other year. I have never seen another set like this; they are elecronically monitored from the looks of things, and I installed a set off of a 93-95. She doesn't want to run right at all, and has thrown a MIL. More pics and updates later. I am not posting the pics due to their large size, use the links on the ftp.

No, the IMRCs are the same, but the actuator is different. You can port the IMRCs for any year 93-96, but if you want form fit function you must use the butterfly assembly from a 96. I thought perhaps I could just use the actuator, but as it turns out, the shaft is different as well. The aluminum castings are the same, though.

Also, the codes I am throwing are Cyl 8 misfire and Bank one lean, so I think I have an injector problem.

Problem seems to be fixed now, but she idles low enough to vibrate a bit. Feels strong, but it's raining right now. Pics and further updates later.

Nope, I dont think its causing any problems. As it turns out, the TB gasket was misaligned. Unmetered air owns me http://www.columbusracing.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif. The car feels much lighter on its toes now. I think this was a worthwhile mod. So anyway, found my camera, here are the pics:

I told you that black would look good, and that unmetered air is bad for you. That is why i jsut use RTV on the TB anymore. That and the price replacing those gaskets a hundred times.

I bet your idle is a lot like mine now. When the AC is on it dips a bit. The high end is where your newfound power is, up aroud 5500+
That mod might put you a hair faster than me now, until Iget the gears...
