Crap Cars!

Just got my copy (USA edition, there's one for the UK I believe).

Taking a quick look through here, I'm gonna guess Leo would LOVE this book!

It's the 50 worst cars. #50, for example, is the Porsche 924 (1978-1985). The comment: If this car was.... A real Porsche, Michael Jackson is a real white guy.

Writing looks to be quite entertaining and humorous, and there are pictures of each of the cars.

Anyone want to take a guess at the #1 crap car????

RE: Crap Cars!

Leo, I'm not sure what that is! But I saw "mvc" in the properties of the pic, and can't seem to match it up. I wonder if that car is in the UK edition? From the looks of it, it belongs in this book!

Bill - Good guess, but believe it or not - no Chevette on the list .

Driller - good one - Geo Metro Convertible (1990 - 1993) comes in at #20 "if this car was any smaller, you'd lose it down a drain."

BTW, No Lincolns are listed! It is a small book - no real history on the cars, just a humorous paragraph or so describing why the car made it into the book. There are some funny and surprising ones!

Yugo?

Good one! Boy you're close to #1:

#2 Yugo GV (1985 - 1991) - "If this car was all you could afford, have you considered prostitution?"

RE: Crap Cars!

You guys are right. But remember, these cars were picked for various reasons. I never would have guessed the top one, but it is kinda funny when you think about it. I wouldn't rate it as the crappiest car, but it is an embarrassment.

For another difficult task, the following cars have a model that was put into this book, try to guess the model/year:

Jaguar (actually looks like there are two)
Ferrari
Rolls-Royce
Maserati
Aston Martin

RE: Crap Cars!

Good one Paul, but not it.

AMC Pacer (1975-1980) #3 - "If this car was a cartoon, it'd be a teenage mutant mangy turtle."

Bill, one of my favorites, but only coming in at #6:

Chevrolet Vega (1971-1977) - "If this car was only a little bit rusty, it was still on the production line."

And good guess on the Jag - although they don't mention the V12:

#48 Jaguar XJS-C (1988) "If this car was better looking, it might have been quite nice."

RE: Crap Cars!

Yeah, Bill, it's a lot of fun.

OK, for the Jag XJ6 (I did drive one of these btw), 1987-1994 #42: "If this car was your favorite Jaguar, you don't know much about Jaguars."

I do think they are tougher on cars which we "expect" to be good. (That's also kinda a hint at #1).

RE: Crap Cars!

Paul, still not #1, but in the top 5!

Volkswagen Beetle (1945-1979) #5 - "If this car was in your kitchen, you'd step on it." They mention the crappy heater in these cars which reminded me of high school days in the winter when my girlfriend drove hers -- brrrrrr.

BMW isletta?

There is a BMW, but not that one.

RE: Crap Cars!

Looks like there's some overlap between the UK list and the US.

Rob, did you get that one?

RE: Crap Cars!

I did a search and it had a BBC review of the book and it had the whole list.I was thinking it was the Ford EXP or Escort for the U.S

RE: Crap Cars!

Ahhh, the Ford EXP (1982), #28:

"If this car was any more eighties, it'd come with free leg warmers."

RE: Crap Cars!

The Cadillac STS isn't in this book, though there are a few Caddys.

No one's guessed #1 yet.

OK, here's a hint as to why the car made it on the list: "sequels usually turn out crap."
