How to analyze towels, wash mitts, etc.

Leo this is so good!

I bookmarked this thread.

I am about to do my first full Zaino application and they too harp endlessly on the quality of the cotton and the need to be very sure there is no polyester or other fibers in the mix.

Did I read that this is your family's business?

That has to be the best post ever. If you all could only see my car and the swirled scratches made in the clearcoat by someone using a bad towel.(all over the car) Its hidious and I have to paint the car b/c of it.

Thanks for the great thread.

Whoa, are you serious? I've got a lot of tiny scratches on my finish, but assumed (hoped) they come out when I wax it for the first time. Just how bad do they have to be before you need to repaint?

Ill take a pic for you tomarrow and show you how bad it is on my car. Its obvious that someone was washing the car with a bad rag. All the scratches are circular and around some places you can see the circles (of scratches) become smaller and smaller circles. Its truly revolting and would make any respectable Mark owner weep like a baby.

edit: Whoops, noticed I didnt completely answer your question there. Well, there's something you can do from what Im told recently about spider cracks. You would claybar it to clean all the dust and everything (I would assume) after washing it. Then you would buff it with VANILLA MOOSE WAX HAND GLAZE (http://www.clearkote.net/products.htm) and tnen wax it. That's all I know and I would take it as amature information and wait for one of these car buffs to answer ya. ;)

the previous owner of my car seemed to like the car was, as there are swirl marks ALL OVER my car. My wax/detailing guy does amazing work with buffers, so he is getting the car fro a few days in a couple of weeks. After I have washed it, it looks like someone took a piece of sandpaper and swirled it all over my car. Its REALLY bad. Just thought I would share too, great post Leo!

Excellent post, Leo. I am hoping you will consider running a car care clinic for those who make it to Carlisle. That would be awesome. You might even sell some more stuff if you did. hint hint

Finally got those pics. I've talked to a shop about them and they say for 90 bucks they will take them out with a buff.

I hope it works out. That top pic looks particularly nasty. Let us know how it turns out.

I don't know if any of you read the clay bar thread but this is what I did and this is what resulted.

I washed the car then clay barred it. Then I waxed it twice. Then I washed it again and waxed it again with Mothers wax and paint cleaner.

This is the result.

A lot of those scratches came out. I'm quite impressed. There are still scratches and spider cracks all over the car but its not dull anymore and the majority of the scratches came out.
