Shifter and steering wheel leather

It seems like gunk just welds itself to these two items, and anything short of industrial cleaner won't get it off. And I generally have clean hands. :)

What's the best thing to clean them with? I distinctly recall someone saying that they used some sort of leather cleaner and it bleached or discolored the leather. That would be bad.

Spray-9 is what 90% of all dealers use, as do I. Works super great, almost instantly and discolors nothing. The shop techs always get greasy smears on steering rims & shifters & door panels. Really, they can't help it, they work on cars that have oil & grease and that come in dirty in the rain & snow. Spray 9 make it new in seconds.

Hmm i've used 409 Cleaner on the shifter and the steering wheel, i have a black shifter and a grey steering wheel. I didn't see any discoloration, 409 got everything off.
