door handle

Okay I have been looking around for an outside drivers door handle, and want to know if a gen1 handle will work with my car. Please let me know if it will work. I found lots of gen1 but very few gen2.

John. I had to replace a driver's door handle on my 98 LSC. I don't think a Gen1 will fit. Part wasn't expensive at all - about $30. The dealer suggested a body shop install it for me and they charged me less than $100. Part# was XF3Z 6322405 AA Handle Assy.

Note: This part is painted in primer only. Hence the body shop recommendation (paint it first...)

For a Lincoln fix, I thought this was pretty reasonable.

My local dealer quoted me $75 for the door handle, $75 to paint it and $75 to install it. I bought a used one from a salvage yard and did it myself for about $40.
