A few miles out of Carlise, PA on route 76 East while doing 63 miles per hour, this happens. Tires are inexpensive (under $200.00) but body and trim work are brutal on the pockets. Estimated repair cost is $1114.00 and two weeks. It's amazing what a steel belt can to in the span of two seconds.

You probably looked like a tourist,

out there along the busy highway,

with your camera,

taking pictures of your blowout. :+ :7 LOL

j/k :p

Who was driving? Glad to hear it wasn't worse. Still sucks to see your ride like that. :(

hehehe
Tourist! Damn straight!
I was driving the 1976 and Lynette was driving the 1988. She said that the only way sh knew anything happened was because of the BOOM. I only swerved about a foot left and then coasted to a stop on the shoulder only breaking at the very end.

I'm glad to hear you're ok! It's a good thing you were able to coast over to the side of the road, or the damage could have been worse :(

Fix her up good as new, and bring her back next year! ;)

The tire that blew out was the same as the remaining three:
Tribune, Steel Radial, 4 Ply, made in Korea
DOT D7HL A7Y514
P235/75R15 105S
The remaining three still have "nobbies" and "webs" in between the treads.

I never heard of that tire brand. One thing I never do is skimp on tires. I have Continentals on my Mark now. I use Michelins as well as Dunlops. I would take a Goodyear over an unknown tire, even though I think they are over priced and just ok. Get your self some qulity rubber, it is a safty issue.

I replaced my factory Goodyears with Continentals, and I love them. They seemed to improve the ride quality (my Goodyears had about 35K on them).

Yeah.
These were the choice of the previous owner. Since there was virtually no wear on the tires, I choose not to change them when I bought the car. At the time, the name brand could have been Hasboro ... they were new :)

Cleaned up the spare tire.

Cleaned up the spare tire.

Since we have a breakfast to attend Saturday the 18th, 2005 I decided to clean up the spare for the trip North to Edison, NJ Yes. What you are looking at is the ORIGINAL spare!

It's in great condition and still has the nobbies all the way around.
