I know some where wanting to see pictures of this car forever. There was a peak of it in some of the vette pics I've posted before, but heres a good look at it. I had it out today since it was such a beautiful day. I only gave it a quick 45 min cleaning. Not the best but it'll worked out well for just a few hours of fun.

RE: Pics of the T/A

That looks awesome!! The older lady (i think she's about 85)across the street has an 81 Firebird that same color, it only has a V6 but she keeps it in the garage all the time and does not drive it very often.... it only has 41,000 miles no rust and she has it taken out every couple of months to have the oil changed and other general maintenance and a detail job. i keep trying to get her to sell it to me but she won't :( maybe someday i'll get lucky enough to get ahold of it but until then i'll just keep drooling over it :+

Its a 1977, has the 6.6L 403 engine. Some things that the picture didn't pick up on are.... Theres a nice big "bug mark" on the drivers side bumper. I decided to tap a card reader pole with it at the airport about a year ago. And of course that happened to be 3 days after it got the bumpers repainted. The second would be the passengers side was keyed the entire length of it. Most of it buffed out, but its still noticeable on the door.

The car also has 188K miles on it with 48K since the engine was rebuilt. For being an all origional car (minus the CD changer) the car is in excellent condition. Not mint or near mint condition like the vette, but still well above the curve.

For such a powerful car, its pretty slow huh? ET of 26.97? Thats not sometihng I would go around bragging about. J/K :p

Very nice car, i love the color!
my next move is to get a clasic muscle car

RE: Pics of the T/A

26.97?? Whered that number come from. Yes it is somewhat dissapointing of how slow it is for such a big engine. What really kills it is how restrictive the exhaust is. If you opened that up theres no doubt you could see another 20+hp just from dropping the cats and going to true duals on it.

Anyways, I'm guessing a closer ET on it would be about 15.5. 0-60 I'm going to say its just a touch quicker than the mark, but it just doesn't pull as strong in the higher gears.

Some day I'll have to get a friend and we'll take them out to the speedway and race them.

Thanks for the complements on the color. A lot of people ask what color and I say a metallic brown and they go ick! I myself love the color as well. But if it didn't have the bird then it would be another story. Truethfully I find this car much more appealing in this brown than in the black.

From what I have read, the Oldsmobirds were mid to high 16 second cars. The W-72 Pontiac 400 powered cars were running around 15.3, but that may have been with the 3.73 axle option also, I don't know if you could get that with the olds plant. I have a W-72 motor in my garage I wish my brother would come and get soon.
At one point my brother got a 79 Oldsmobird, it was a nice car and by then I think the 403 was uprated to 220 HP, but it was still pretty poochy. He sold it and bought a 10th Anniversary TA with the 400 and 4-speed. The stock motor came out and a built 455 went in, with BME forged aluminum rods, ported RA I heads from an old GTO, and a bunch of other interesting bits. It's quite a car. I had a 74 Trans Am myself, which was trashed by a body shop a few years ago. I later sold it after determining it would never be right again.

If I get another TA, I think it would be a Lucerne Blue 71 or 72 Trans Am with the 455HO. THe HO would go in the shed, and a 500 CID stroker with Edelbrock aluminum heads would go in.

Nice to see a 2nd gen F-body in good shape. Don't see many of them around anymore.

I had a black 1978 with the Bird on the hood. I don't remember it being that slow. Of course my memory ain't what it used to be.
