New Toy Sold

RE: New Toy Sold

Gents - now we are talking M-O-N-E-Y.

Triple big blocks with all the trimmings. Outdrives that eat themselves up once a month.

You do NOT want to play with big fast boats. You will go broke (with a really big smile on your face).

Here's a sad example of pure addiction:

Reggie Fountain puts this little 42 foot number right on the showroom floor for any well respecting fool to plunk down the REALLY big bucks and just drive her home. It evens comes WITH the helmet and lifevest.

Well if a 42 footer is a bit heavy on the wallet - here's a slightly tamer 35 foot Foumula 2 race boat - available right off the shelf - ready to run - your choice of graphics - and Depends...

RE: New Toy Sold

Hey Thanks Norm for posting the pics. I still have no clue how to post pics on this site, so I really appreciate guys like Norm who go out of their way to do this, even when they are potentially on their death bed, (hope NOT).

Anyway, I couldn't do Carlisle this year because of business dealings but I did find the time to go to New York that weekend to pick up this ride. The tow vehicle is a Ford Excursion that looks like a Tonka truck pulling this beast. 13,000 lbs. going down the highway. I have to hand it to the Excursion. V10, exhaust, intake and a chip and it pulled like a madman. No trouble outrunning anything. The biggest problem was finding gas. You just can't pull into any 'ol gas station, way too friggin long. 8 mpg average. Actually did better at 8.5 mpg in the hills of Pennsylvania.

The boat is a 38' Donzi Daytona. List price: $ 284,000 with twin 500 EFI's. Trust me, didn't pay that. Kevlar layup with twin 502's Mercury Racing 500 H.P's. Nothing in the world like a 1000 ponies screaming.

Only took it out a couple times so far. Can't get away from the cops. It is a magnet for trouble. Every cop has to pull you over just to make you lift the hatch and show the glory.

Edit/ The rest of the post was lost so i'll end it here. 95.8 db AT IDLE. Nice. Trading up to 575 SC's. Supercharged windmills that should push it into the 100's. At 70 mph, for comparison, your face flaps in the wind.

RE: New Toy Sold

Saw a guy hauling a black thunder a few weeks ago when i was hauling the dinghy. It was 40'+, probably the same one Bryan just posted. He was towing it with a new Chevy 1-ton diesel dually crew-cab 4x4 pickup. When he came over the top of the ramp with the boat on the trailer, the trailer would scrape the ramp, just barely.
