Junkyard car #3

RE: Junkyard car #3

Geno,

It looks exactly like it had burned and was then left in the junkyard to rust. Very realistic.

Good, Im glad to hear that.

Thats my first time at "Real Rust" on plastic.

I set a brand new piece of steel wool in a 1/2 cup of water and let it dry into perfectly powdered rust !

I then brush on Testors decal set and sprinkle the rust powder onto the decal set before it dries.

Presto, genuine rust that will actually rust even more after its on the car!

I like the ingenuity you use in coming up with this stuff! BTW, is that kitty litter you're using for the bits of gravel/dirt?

RE: Junkyard car #3

Nope.

It's srayed with Naptha and left to dry.

I then wash it in a strainer with dish soap.

Hee Hee - New Jersey dirt that's been cleaned reminds me of kitty litter... ;-)

so you are making a diorama of a miniature superfund site?

but seriously these are cool !

how about a diorama of an auto accident in progress, or is that too gruesome? Buy 3 identical models, diorama one in the show room, one in the middle of an accident, and one in the junkyard LOL. Maybe you could get a grant from the NHTSB hahahahaha
