I Hit the Lottery!! WHOO HOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is "MY GOD!"

Myself and my Cousin went to this garage right up the road from my house to purchase a 68 Chevelle drag car body from this place 1 day before it was to be torn down (Which it is now), so were in there talking to this 70 plus year old man and he says anything in those milk crates and boxes that are behind the car you can have for free.

He said it would save him the trouble of dragging this stuff to the curb for the trash guys to pick up. (Thats right TRASH Guy's)

So were digging through the stuff and its all old, old drag parts, old bell housings, old top loader cases etc.

Well we take all the crap with us (filled a 1500 chevy 8ft bed) and Im going through the stuff yesterday and I see a set of old dirtyass greasy Hemi heads.

I thought Mopar at a quick glance until I saw the spark plug wasn't in the middle it was off to the side, then I fall to my knees and get "woozy" when I realized I just got a set of 1966 Ford 427 Cammer Hemi Heads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FREE !!!!!!!!!!

I just cannot believe it at all its truely like hitting the lottery, these are the rarest Ford heads ever produced!! This engine was also the first engine ever made with the aid of a computer, Ford called it the "90 Day Wonder" because it went from paper to production in 3 months!!

Heres just a little on this engine for those of you that aren't familiar.

Without a doubt the most powerful engine EVER made, the Ford 427 Cammer was developed with the intention of taking on Chrysler's Hemis. Ford gave the 427 block new heads with hemispherical combustion chambers. To cap that, they fitted overhead camshafts -- one per cylinder bank -- which gave the engine its name and allowed it to rev to an unheard of 7,500 rpm. With the regular single four barrel carb, the "cammer" put out 616 bhp, but with dual four-barrels, it produced a massive 657 bhp. With this kind of power, the "cammer" 427 was totally unsuitable for street use. These engines were not sold to the general public, but about 50 examples were built, mostly for professional drag racers. Because of the low production volumes, NASCAR refused to accept the engine as a regular production option, and thus Ford couldn't use the engine to combat the Hemi's. This sealed this engine's fate and Ford discontinued it after 1965.

Ratings:
1x4bbl: 616bhp @ 7500rpm. 2x4bbl: 657 bhp @ 7500rpm, 550 lb-ft.

Installation:
0

Total Production:
100 50 built complete and 50 for parts.

That is a truly amazing find! It is interesting that the heads sport a 1966 production part number C6AE-AC considering they were discontinued in 1965. Could it be that you have a 1966 preproduction part? Steve Christ does not list the cammer head numbers in his book.

I have a 1960 T-Bird for sale if you want to build a cammer Squarebird. It would be a bolt on. :)

Its exactly 6ft long to be exact.
Im actually hunting Ebay and making calls and it looks like this is going to be a long hard road.

Anyone who has ANYTHING to do with these engines is holding out for other people to give it up!!
It sucks because with so few this "Mexican Standoff" will go on until the end of time!!!

I cannot find anything under $1000.00 (which was for a set of BEAT valve covers)

RE: I Hit the Lottery!! WHOO HOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once you get into that kind of money for valve covers, can't you just find someone with a mill in their garage to make you some billet ones?

Thats what my Dad suggested Tonight at Dinner!!

Sheetmetal actually, but that would be ultra badass!

RE: I Hit the Lottery!! WHOO HOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've made custom valve covers for motorcycle out of billet. I did some for a Harley Shovel show bike....was cool....

Geno you may try Ford Power Parts in Norwalk Ca. I have had very good luck with finding rare FE parts through them. They also sell stuff on consignment for people so its worth a shot. If you can't find the number (no website) let me know and I will see if I can find it. Also they race so they have a really weird scedule and are hard to get a hold of.
P.S. you lucky SOB :)

RE: I Hit the Lottery!! WHOO HOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heres the number (562) 921-5300 & (562) 404-0900 . Like I said they are really hard to get ahold of so don't give up on them :) I also have their address it is:
FPP & Pro Titanium
14504 Carmenita Rd.
Norwalk, CA 90650
Hope this helps. Also have you tried DOVE products?? http://www.doveperformanceparts.com
They are another big FE parts sorce. In fact I think FE's are all they do. I Love FE's (hence my name on the other board FeNatic) I may have a few more sorces for you to try, I just have to look through my old papers.
If you want to make a Thunderbolt clone Crites is the best place for all the fiberglass hoods, fenders, bumbers, trunk lids and just about everything you need to make your clone. http://www.critesrestoration.com/litening.htm

SWEET! Man thanks a bunch. Ill post the results after my "Hunt".

RE: I Hit the Lottery!! WHOO HOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok Geno, after looking through all my old FE papers I found two more sorces to try. First is Jim Kuntz at Kuntz and company they used to be real big in FE's. I am not sure any more though. Here is their web address http://www.kuntzandcompany.com
Second and more then likely the BEST is a guy by the name of Rick Kirk in Stillwater, OK. I looked up his number on the web and the only thing I can find is a listing for a R. Kirk in Stillwater, OK. I would post his number but for privacy I won't. I am sure you can find it also. If not email me and let me know. The one thing I know about Mr. Kirk is if it's rare and it's FE he has it period! This man has more rare FE stuff then Ford. You have more then likely seen his 1962 Falcon sedan delivery with a blown SOHC. I think it went on the show circut in 95' or 96'. It was a blueish teal and sponsered by Kicker audio (go figure with them both being from Stillwater, OK) Anyway if you can get ahold of him he should have or know where to locate what you need.
I know I have some more places to try but can't find them right now. I will post when I find them though.
Also are your Iceboxs avalible yet? If so I will be calling you this week and ordering a MAF and icebox.
