Radio lights don't come on

When I turn the radio on none of the lights, light up on it. When I do turn it on, I can hear a radio station but it sounds really crappy. It plays cds pretty good but skips from time to time. Is this signs of a bad radio? I have a '97, can I interchange from any other year or makes (i.e. fords?). Hopefully I can find one on ebay or a another member?

Sounds more like antenna connection...have you checked it? I have a spare radio/cassette here. $25.00 plus shipping from 21108. It works good...I put one in mine with a CD player.
