I had to remove the E brake pedal to clean it up.

I was under the car, I had to release some tension on the brake cable. This is the cleanest underbody of a Mark VIII I've ever owned. Even the gas tank shield is rust free.

It's ironic, that the seats and other interior parts are the rustiest I've seen, luckily, I'm replacing those.

They are so much nicer to work on when not rusty. All my cars are Arizona, Texas, and California cars, except my 82 F150, which was a Colorado vehicle, and the floors rusted through, but everything else isn't too bad to work on. Lots of salt on the roads, but it also has rubber floor that traps stuff under it, it and my 63 Falcon rusted from the interior out. Falcon is due to missing window.

I soaked the E brake in some Evapo-Rust, this stuff works great. Here's a before and after.

nice and clean, how the heck did it get so rusty like that, was the car ever flooded or someone left the roof open in the rain?

The previous owner had it parked outside and the top seals leak. The passenger side carpet was still drenched when I got the car.

All the interior unpainted metal was coated with surface rust from that, including the dash frame and seat frames, that's why I'm replacing those. The E brake and service brake pedal bracket, along with the PCM bracket, will be evapo soaked, cleaned up, and painted.

                Everything else is good.

I painted the parking brake, brake pedal bracket and PCM bracket after the de-rusting.

I kind of hate to put them back where they won't be seen.

You can't see those parts now.

I put the dash in today. I carried the dash into the car on my shoulder, because I didn't have access through the door while it's in the garage. It's kind of heavy and bulky.

It worked out great though, I easily set it down vertically, on the carpet, in the back seat area, and worked it into position from there. Of course, I couldn't have done that with a hardtop.

It's my grey dash for now, I might be getting a black one, or painting it in the future, I'm not sure yet.

I finished up connecting the dash harness.

I ran into one connector difference between the 93 and 94.

The 94 dash harness has a grey 8 pin connector, the 93 had a black 12 pin connector.

The wire colors are the same, so I just took the connector off the 93 dash and re-pinned it on the 94 dash harness.

I'm guessing no one ever ran into this problem before.

                              Since I don't have a 93 manual, I just used these photos when I re-pinned it.

I've got a 93 EVTM if you want to borrow it.

Love the bracket restoration Bill, looks great!
