engine support bar

We are in the proces of installing headers in John's 2000 GT. any suggestion on the best way to hook up an engine support bar?
 
Remove the alternator and support the front of the engine with both bolts and the rear will rest on the trans cross member.
 
just hold the motor up with an engine hoist, that way it will move around too making it easier to put the headers on, then like jesse said leave the trans on the cross member.
 
I never liked doing that because you have the legs of the stupid engine hoist to deal with underneath. You are right about it moving side to side easier though.
