A sad day in our house

Today is a sad day, a horrible day actually. Our sweet baby girl Barchetta has been a bit unruly lately and early this morning she decided to chase a rabbit around the house and into the road where she knows not to go. Despite my wife screaming at her to stop and come back she darted into the road and was hit. She died instantly, thank God. Otus, our other dog, saw all this and he is terribly upset as he really loved her, the two were inseparable.

I buried her with a few of her favorite toys.

Here is the last picture we have of her, Barchetta is the little one on the right.

My condolences on your loss. I have a little dachshund. I know how I would feel if I lost her.

I once lost a cat to a car - I know how you feel. In my case, I'd always lived with the cat in the country, and when I moved into town, she didn't know about roads - she would literally sit out in the middle waiting for me to come home. One night, a speeding motorcyclist hit her...

I knew a guy in college that totaled his bike when he hit a dog. Killed the dog, damn near killed him.

My condolences also. I know how much a pet means to a household as I've always had either a cat or a dog or both all my life.

Oh that's so sad!!! I feel so bad for your other dog. Poor thing. :( :( :(

Thank God she didn't feel any pain.

Sorry for your loss. It was a year ago yesterday I had to put My 12 year old Lab down and it is still hard to think about it.

We are going through something like that today as well. My wife had to put her Ferret to sleep today as it was sick with cancer.
