A new front grill for my 94 Mark VIII,($249.00) does anyone know how to remove the old one and replace it with the brand new one? Or is this a professional project... I have a Car show in just 8 days and I need it replaced yesterday before it goes to the detail shop!!!

RE: I just bought.....

Replacing the grille requires removing the bumper. to remove the bumper, you have to remove the side marker lamps, reach in and undo two nuts on either side, undo all the screws along the bottom edge, and i think there's something at the top too that you have to remove the chrome strip for, but i'm not sure. It's not too tought but it's pretty involved.

RE: I just bought.....

I believe the front bumper cover and the grill are removed together, but there may be another way to remove just the grill. There are instructions posted on this site or the other one. A search by "oil cooler installation" is how I recall finding the post. Good luck!

Gotta take the bumper off. YOu will have to take the headlights out as well to get the bumper to pull forward and release in addition to what Dave mentioned. Once you get it off the bumper cover off there are 3-5 screws that hold it on. There is no other way to remove the grill w/o taking the bumper off.

RE: I just bought.....

Stanley, there are also 4 screws up top, under the chrome strip that goes just below the hood.

I guess you didnt check the "Auction House" section of this site...if you do, you'll be angry. Why dont you try to return the grille to the dealer, and go for the one on ebay? Of course, it wont be here in time for the car show. (pssst. get the one on ebay, stuff it in the box you have now, and return it for a full refund... even if there is a restocking fee, you should still come out ahead.)

While you have the grille off, now is a good time to install some "driving lights" behind the grille, for the day your headlights no longer light your way. I know you dont drive it much, but.... while you're in there... besides, car show folks LOVE seeing extra lights on cars!

Good luck buddy!

Woah there pardner! Be careful about that, if the car is judged in a stock class and the judges are sticklers about the rules you could loose points for the additional non-stock items if they are obviously not stock. If they put the car in a modified class you'll be up against some pretty stiff competition.

By the way Stanley, check the rules for the car show, they may require first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and some other items that you may need to get. And remember to make that engine spotlesss!

RE: I just bought.....

The detailers are picking up the the Evil one on the 14th, they like the car so much the are Sponsoring the detail job, a 300 dollar job for free..... Anchor Detailing in Burlingame!!!! As it stands right now you can pretty much eat off the engine.http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/2/web/410000-410999/410863_27.jpg At the time I made the first post I was heading out to pick up the Grill, However I opted to wait until I heard from my LOD brothers and sisters before I spent any dough.....Oh yes and the private message abour selling me stock in the Brooklyn Bridge... no thanks I already have stock in the Golden Gate Bridge (totally worthless) and I can't find seem to find my Broker....Anymore

RE: I just bought.....

Five star ford $221 total price...... thanks for all your help... and I will have it just in time time for the car show!!!

RE: I just bought.....

Stanley... what about the "brand new one" on ebay(see LOD Auction House" thread) Alot less money than Max, so far...

Leo... I am in total agreement. However, as Stanley stated before, this car show is primarily for "Imports", and there is a "domestic" section. Honestly, how many "stock" imports do you expect to see at an "Import car Show"? I think one of the things most of the Import crowd WILL admire about a Mark VIII is "any" customization Stanley can show. Like his brand new trunk full of stereo equipment and neon lights!!!

But for a "true" show, the "stock" class... must be just that. I agree Leo.
