...pretty hard because the roads here are either a) crap, lor b) torn up for construction. Getting a shudder in the steering wheel. Well, it was barely there with the stock wheels, but the stiffer sidewall is exacerbating it. Poly bushings? Other ideas?

How many miles on your car? May be time for a front end rebuild. I'm in the middle of putting in a new rack, lower control arms with balljoints, strut rod bushings, sway bar end links, new rotors, trannie flush, and a trannie cooler. Half way though and still tomorrow to go. Jack your front end up and see where the problem is. Grab the tires at 9 and 3 check for play, and then 12 and 6. This should give you a good idea where to look for problems. I know when I replaced the upper control arms it took care of a lot of problems, but 20k miles later the rest of the front end crapped out so I figuerd it was time to replace. Good luck!!

I would start with a good wheel balancing if the car drove fine with stock wheels.
