HID Bullbs

I guess that the $80 kit sounds good to me, especially if it improves the field of vision as well. I suppose (I hope!) that I have "any kind" of mecahnical skills. Do the kits at least have some instructions?

well i have negative feedback myself on ebay but i wouldnt avoid me lol you cant please everyone, to date i have purchased 8 hid kits from him, out of all that, one came with a bad bulb, i called him, he said send back, i did, got another bulb express mail, i wouldnt say avoid him we dont live in a perfect world. i'll continue to buy from him until the day he gives me a problem.

I'm not perfect either (though my ebay rating is 100% positive), but when a seller ignores me because HIS product failed and leaves me holding the bag, he's out in my book. I can tolerate mistakes, but I can't tolerate cheats.

If you sent someone a faulty Mark part would you EVER ignore their complaints?

no but thats why i was saying he never treated me wrong so until he does i'll still buy from him. i'm not saying he didnt screw you over, but i would still leave the option open to others to buy from him until he gives them a problem too. i'm not defending him, i'll probably get screwed too lol but until it happens .....

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to contact Sylvania directly to buy NOS bulbs? They might even have another type of bulb that they currently make that might work. You never know.

Nope, nope, and nope....

Start at page 1 and re read this thread, all your headlight options have already been outlined...

Yeah, you guys were right as usual.:p I contacted Sylvania and they basically told me to go screw. I'm hoping to find a used bulb that I can keep in the stash so that if I do lose a light, I can replace it quickly. I will reread this thread, but I'm not totally clear on the aftermarket conversion option which seems to be the most economical choice that also allows one to retain HID. I have very little experience with wiring (stereos / amps / etc.) and I wonder if this conversion is something I can handle. Well, anyway, thanks for the tips!

OK, so I just checked out the $80 kit from japanumpotshop. They look good. Does anyone know which bulb brightnesses are legal? There are so many choices. I like the 6000 bright white and the 12000 blue, but I'm not sure how that compares to what I already have, and whether either of those is legal (I got inspection coming up). Any thoughts?

Hubby's not around for me to ask. He installed mine, which I don't like as much as stock (he took my old ones, it was his which were bad). He ordered them from Max at 5 star I believe, and I'm not even sure what he got. I'm illiterate in all things electrical, I'm even afraid of sockets.

Well Trixie, if you hear anything on thew subject please let me know. Unfortunately, the guy (japanimportshop) is an E-Bay dealer and I have never used E-Bay nor do I have a PayPal account. I e-mailed him trying to get his phone #, because i havesome questions (Imagine THAT:D) before I buy. If you or anyone else knows a # to this, or any other dealer I'd like to know.

He put in the new Ford replacements. Got them from Max at 5 Star Ford, who used to give club members here a discount (not sure if he still does or not). He says they were around $500.

But it's really easy to get a paypal account.

OK! I hope this wil be the last question I have on this topic. I was all ready to order from Japanimportshop when I was asked what kind of bulbs I had! I thought that was the whole reason for doing this in the first place! Obviously, 9500's were not on the list, that i understand. So, which bulbs do I pick? 9005? 9006? I mean, Jamie explained that I will have to make my own adapter rings so the bulbs will fit into my housings. I get that. But how do I know which bulbs to start with? Does bulb choice affect whether or not it all will plug into my existing wire harnesses? Oh no, I think I'm hyperventalating.....;)

You want the 9006 or HB-4 bulbs. You will also be asked at what temperature you want....I got the 6000k temps...best combo for distance (vision) and the hotter (higher) number you get, th e bluer the light...and also the less light projection. I really like the way mine light up the road....

+1.

just tell him 9006 bulb and 6000k light output, you will have to unplug your factory ballasts, and wire the new ballasts to your stock ballst plug, very easy they are only two wire, pos and neg, not much to mess up there!

I hope this is it.

I hope this is it.

I am going to contact the guy you recommended in the PM Jamie. I will go with him if he's not too much more expensive than Japanimportshop. Either way, I hope that this issue can finally be laid to rest.
Once again I would like to formally thank everyone for being so patient with my endless questions. I know I can be annoying, but it is my nature to be as fully informed as I can possibly be about any subject that interests me. I promise that when anyone actually has any questions on a topic about which I can be of assistance, I will attempt to return the charity I have been shown in kind. Political history anyone? The fall of the Russian Empire? The rise and fall of socialism? Che Guevara and Castro?
