Curious to know which cars other consumers are researching at Edmunds.com? The following is a list of the 50 most popular vehicles on our site.

1. Honda Accord

Honda fiddles with a successful recipe, leaving out some of the parts people seem to like and adding spice for which nobody asked. The result, to a critic's eye, is questionable, though it will certainly sell to the masses in the same quantities it does today.

2. Toyota Camry

Nearly everything a family sedan for America should be.

3. Honda Civic

If you're shopping for a small car and you skip the 2003 Honda Civic, you're doing yourself a tremendous disservice.

4. Honda Pilot

One of the best crossover SUVs in just its first year out. An excellent choice for active families in need of versatility.

5. Toyota Sienna

The 2004 Sienna has all the right stuff to take on the toughest minivan competitors, even the much acclaimed Honda Odyssey.

6. Infiniti G35

A very capable sedan that offers a high level of both sport and luxury.

7. BMW 3 Series

If you've got the bucks, this is unequivocally the best car in the entry-luxury category.

8. Toyota Highlander

Need SUV utility but don't want any unnecessary bulk or fuel bills? The Highlander could very well suit your needs.

9. Volkswagen Passat

This is our favorite midsize car — in both sedan and wagon form. Don't make your family vehicle choice without driving one.

10. Toyota Corolla

A solid economy sedan that many will purchase on the basis of name alone. Next to peers, though, the Corolla offers little to get excited about in terms of price or performance.

11. Toyota 4Runner

The 4Runner legend continues. This is one of the best midsize SUVs for 2003.

12. Nissan Altima

Once a frumpy wallflower, the Altima is now a car to be desired.

13. Nissan Maxima

Although it's now more upscale than ever before, the Maxima remains of the best combinations of performance, luxury and value in the midsize sedan segment.

14. Nissan 350Z

Nissan's crown jewel. For the money, this is one of the best performance buys on the market.

15. Audi A4

The A4 is luxurious, sporty, winter proof and a few grand cheaper than BMW's 3 Series. As such, it's one of our favorite entry-luxury cars.

16. Honda CR-V

The longtime benchmark of the "soft roader" mini-SUV class. Drive it. You'll like it.

17. Volkswagen Touareg

A pleasant blend of the pavement-dwelling crossover and the rugged off-roader swathed in Volkswagen style.

18. Honda Odyssey

The Odyssey continues to be the best minivan sold in America.

19. Hyundai Santa Fe

Odd design elements aside, the Santa Fe offers a consumer-friendly blend of space, comfort, features, performance and value.

20. Mazda 6

Tired of the dull, sensible, vanilla-flavored family sedan? If you're willing to give up some passenger room, the Mazda 6 should add a dash of zing to your daily commute.

21. Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Though hardly inexpensive, the C-Class is appealing due to its variety of configurations and prestigious name.

22. Ford Explorer

A functional interior, ample passenger space, strong powertrains and a well-controlled ride all contribute to the Explorer's well-deserved reputation as a practical midsize SUV with few faults.

23. Ford F-150

A class leader when it comes to ride, handling and hauling capability, but a little extra poundage and its lack of side airbags keep it from completely rolling over the competition.

24. Nissan Murano

A stylish melding of form and function. More than just a tall station wagon, the Murano has several unique features to recommend it to the pseudo-SUV buyer.

25. Volkswagen Jetta

The Jetta is no longer an economy car; however, its powerful engine lineup, near-ideal balance between ride and handling and high-quality cabin materials make it one of our top recommendations to small sedan and wagon buyers.

26. Volvo XC90

Easy to drive and easy on the eyes, Volvo's first foray into the SUV arena has everything it needs to compete in this highly competitive category.

27. Acura TSX

An affordable, well-executed entry-level luxury sedan that makes up for in features what it lacks in power.

28. Toyota Tacoma

A capable compact pickup with a variety of body styles to suit most buyers. Has a reputation for reliability, but value in question due to high asking prices.

29. Ford Escape

A very capable small SUV thanks to its powerful V6 engine, spacious cabin, handsome looks and carlike handling. One of our favorites.

30. MINI Cooper

Think of the born-again Mini Cooper as an affordable, luxurious go-kart for adults. Is this your dream car? Better get in line.

31. Subaru Forester

Practical, well-built and enjoyable to drive, the Forester offers an excellent balance of upscale features and all-weather drivability.

32. Toyota Sequoia

A thoroughly capable full-size SUV that beats Ford and General Motors at their own game.

33. Subaru Impreza

From the TS Sport Wagon to the WRX, the all-wheel-drive Impreza is a practical, fun-to-drive alternative to the typically dull cars that populate its segment of the market.

34. Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Finally, an SUV from GM that can compete with the big boys. Add in some higher-quality interior pieces and a more tightly controlled suspension, and it might even beat some of them.

35. Mazda RX-8

Regardless of how many doors the RX-8 has, it is ultimately a sport coupe. We applaud Mazda's return to building affordable, non-conformist performance cars.

36. Ford Expedition

Roomy on the inside and agile out on the road, the Expedition is a solid choice among full-size SUVs.

37. Acura MDX

A somewhat bland but otherwise utterly capable and perfectly useful crossover SUV.

38. Lexus RX 330

Offering all the refinement of its predecessor, the RX 330 improves upon an already well-rounded luxury SUV with added style, room, features and agility.

39. Ford Mustang

Fittingly, the Mustang is the last surviving member of the "pony car" breed. For 2004, the Anniversary Edition should give enthusiasts something to brag about.

40. Chrysler Crossfire

DaimlerChrysler's first attempt at infusing Chrysler products with Mercedes underpinnings and heritage results in a fun-to-drive coupe with stunning looks.

41. Acura TL

Jack-of-all-trades but master of none, the TL provides an impressive mix of luxury, sport and affordability.

42. Toyota Matrix

Versatile and affordable, the Matrix is the best compact wagon for hauling people and cargo in this price class.

43. Mazda Tribute

Despite the entrance of revised and redesigned competitors to the marketplace, Mazda's Tribute remains a favorite due to its competent blend of style, space and fun-to-drive nature.

44. Jeep Liberty

Though a little pudgy (at nearly 4,000 pounds) and truckish, the Liberty is athletic both on- and off-road. In terms of refinement, ride comfort and overall performance, it's far ahead of the Cherokee.

45. Honda Element

A specialized Honda that is great as long as you need something so specialized.

46. Chevrolet Tahoe

With room for up to nine passengers, gutsy V8 engines and a long list of available options, it's no wonder the Tahoe is the best-selling full-size sport-ute on the market.

47. BMW 5 Series

Upcoming redesign notwithstanding, the 5 Series is an excellent midsize luxury car, whether you choose the high-performance 540i or a comparatively basic 525i wagon. If you can afford one, we'd highly recommend it.

48. Saab 9-3

A much improved 9-3 in a category that demands excellence — whether it's enough remains to be seen.

49. Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Powerful drivetrains, stout underpinnings and unique options make the Silverado a pickup worth considering, but Ford's new F-150 has it beat when it comes to interior design and overall refinement.

50. Chrysler Pacifica

Although the Pacifica is not perfect, it does work as an alternative to the much maligned minivan. If you really want a big Chrysler wagon instead of an SUV or van, the Pacifica might work for you.

RE: Most Researched Vehicles

W-O-W

Seven out of 50 are American - the boys at Edmunds musta taken alot of flack last year for not having any American cars listed. We're up to 14 percent! (I am not swayed, Cadillac or Lincoln shall prevail in my crotch) :) :)

I do like that Crossfire a whole lot! Really a good looking car, but if I bought one R*Rocket would give me no peace, he'd be e-mailing me German flags, of this I am sure !

RE: Most Researched Vehicles

7 out of 50 sounds like the domestic Vs foreign cars parked at my place of work. And statistics are statistics, Edmunds does not people what to search for on their site.
