89 GMC halfton pickup

so i got a beater for school, its big...err huge. Its got a bit of oil consumption, about a quart a week.

SO im wondering, since i live in columbus, if anyone has any experience with engine rebuilders, i primarily want the heads rebuilt, or just so they dont leak. Im thinking its the valve guides, not enough smoke to be the piston rings. Should i just go to the local hotrod shop, ask them if they can do it, and if not ask them for a reputable shop? Any idea on how long this would take? Price ranges. Oh yea, its a 350, so basically any shop should be able to work on it...no?

Thanks

The question is... is it worth it? You pay someone to remove an engine, take it apart, put it back together, and install it, and you're going to be spending probably close to a grand. I'd just keep putting oil in it.

I have a '91 Suburban with a 350 for a winter beater myself. 4x4, half ton.

Hi Shawn. Eli should be in your area, you could try asking him for a shop if you decide to go that route.
