neon ballast removal

Does the neon need to be removed to get the ballast out? I was just messing with mine and it seems like. Thought I woudl ask before I start taking stuff off.
 
When you get the light off the car, you will need to drill out 4 dang hard rivets that hold it in place, because you need to reinstall the panel that the ballast is mounted on.
 
anyone got a picture showing how the ballast mounts to the riveted plate? Hard to tell looking at mine. I assume there are some tabs that must have broke off mine.
 
I will....as soon as I get my ballast. I'll be doing another write up, but I think you'll be waiting too long.
 
I was going to say the same thing, plus I always forget to take pics lol
 
Since my ballast is already disconnected from the riveted plate I assume there is no need to drill out the rivets? How are the replacement ballasts from Glitch installed? Double sided tape?
 
If I recall,,double sided sticky tape. There are 4 small "L" brackets that are riveted to the plate that it sits on. Then the panel is bolted onto the back of the neon assy to seal it up,
