My Baby's Gone

The subject line sounds like the title to a country song, and I'm just getting to the point that I don't want to cry in my Crown Royal, or scream and break something. A few weeks ago I was broad-sided by a utility truck, spent a few days in the hospital because my cardiac enzymes were elevated, probably due to cardiac contusion from the combined forces of the seat belt, air bag, and lateral force. Thankfully I was in my Mark VII, if I'd been in anything else I probably would have been seriously injured. On the other hand my car was destroyed. My insurance co. paid me the high KBB value and I had to give them the title. I had planned on keeping that car for the rest of my life. It was a 50th birthday present from my wife in 97.

That's why I had not been in touch with anyone lately. Thanks for letting me vent. I'll never find another like it but if I run across one after I get my mad money (would make my wife mad if she knew I had it)account built up I may take the plunge. I've got almost $5K now so it won't be to terribly long. I'll just never let my self get that attached to a car again.

Talk to you later Lincoln people.

RE: My Baby's Gone

That just sucks, but I am glad you are ok. I am sure you will find an other one soon.

RE: My Baby's Gone

Well, the car can be replaced, and you can't. I'm glad to hear you're okay, and sorry about your loss. Good luck on getting a new one. That $5k should put you in to a pretty nice first-gen.

RE: My Baby's Gone

Mark VII? or Mark VIII?. High KBB on your '96 should put you back inti any '96 you want if you shop around. Good luck and better health.

Oh Lee that's a shame, but at least you came our OK and we heard from you again!

RE: My Baby's Gone

sorry to hear about your loss, she was a beauty! it was cool how the LMS stickers matched your color perfectly
you have plenty of time to replace her for Carlisle 04
Stay well

RE: My Baby's Gone

I hate to hear that. I'm glad you're OK. I hope you can find another Mark as nice as yours.

RE: My Baby's Gone

I feel for you, I cant imagine what it would feel like to lose a Mark VIII, I would go insane....

RE: My Baby's Gone

My sincere sympathies to you for the loss of your Mark VIII. I am glad that you are well and posting again. My best to you :)

You of all people have the right to say that, as you sold the "finest piece" of Mark VIII on the planet;). BTW, where are Dr Daves regular updates?.

RE: My Baby's Gone

Something like that happened to me 3 weeks ago in my Grand Marquis. Still swearing at Ford for not making ABS standard equipment on a Fully Loaded 96 Grand Marquis LS W/ Handling and performance package. It was either a Pole, or a stack of cars... Took the pole, and got injured more by the airbag then the accident itself.

RE: My Baby's Gone

Where's the "after" pictures?

Those airbags are nasty... was scared of the ones in my 93 Crown... don't think the ones in the 96 Mark are much better for forcefulness, tho.

RE: My Baby's Gone

I was too pissed off to take pics then, during the whole ordeal I didn’t want anything to remind me of that accident, but now that things have cleared up, I regret not taking pics. The car is now in the process of restoration.

RE: My Baby's Gone

Thanks Dean,

I'm not going to be in a hurry to buy another one. I want to wait to find the perfect one. I looked at a 98 LSC last weekend in Waco when I took the kid to the Texas Ranger Museum. It only had 65K on it and the price was right, but it had not been taken care of, paint heavily oxadized, interior trashed, and I don't think the engine had ever been cleaned.

Catch you later my friend, I have to get ready for all the rain we're going to get from the hurricane this afternoon and tonight.

So sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident. Glad to hear you are ok. As for the Crown Royal, that's my drink too. Next one I pour one, I'll toast it to you. Take care and all the best.

I pray for your speedy recovery..meaning.. I hope you get back in the saddle soon.

Lee, I'm so so sorry about Lelani. I hope you'll stick around here and keep us company. That's such a shame, but I'm glad you're doing better. Take care and don't be a stranger.
