GEICO lowered my rate

Just got the new 6 month contract and Moose's rate is only $808 for the ultra preferred rate per six months and we are loaded with coverage. If you can get GEICO in your state and have a clean driving record I'd recommend you check into it. The Seville rate is $804.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

Leo;

Glad to hear that the rates are going down somewhere. Here in Ontario they are skyrocketing. My recent renewal is up 8%. I now pay $631.00 for six months. I know that this is still a good rate but I have been with State Farm for 23 years on my own insurance and have a 6 star rating with every discount, and we carry an umbrella policy for extra liability.

One of the girls in the office had a $1000.00 acident and her insurance carrier refused to renew. She now pays $3000.00 per year for her vehicle alone. She used to pay $3000.00 for two cars and house insurance.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

Insurance in New Jersey wasn't too bad, UNTIL Christine Whitman (R) was elected on a soap box of promisses, none of which were ever fulfilled. One of the first things that she did was to give a golden parachute to the then Commissiner of Insurance of NJ. She then appointed a former President of an automotive Insurance company to replace him. The comissioner of auto insurance (former) job was to be a watch dog over the insurance industry, so that ended that, with Whtman appointing one of their own to watch over them. During Whitman's TWO terms (she hood-winked the dumb voters a 2nd time) the Insurance Council requested 9 rate increases. 8 were granted !!

Therefore.....

2003 Lincoln Town Car $2,800 @ yr
2001 Jeep Cherokee LT $2,800 @ yr
Equals $ 5,600.00 @ yr. For the two cars!

Now.....we talk the Special interest cars!
3 ascMcLarens at $249 a year = $747.00
1 Cadillac 60 Spcl $249.00 @ yr. = $ 996.00 a year for 4 cars WITH WAY BETTER INSURANCE COVERAGE ON THEM, than on the "users"....

By the way, Geico was banned by her from doing business in N.J. !! Something about an UNfair advantage to the OTHER companies.....

('Ya....Cheaper Rates)

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

I pay $1,100/year after I received the annual 10% dividend. I have full coverage plus I have the no limitation on the Lawsuit Option. In NJ if you get injuries due to the other persons fault in a car accident you can't sue them for pain and suffering unless you have a very sever injury like dismemberment or loss of a fetus. With the no limitation option you can sue for things like whiplash injuries. Also if my issuance company has a good year I get an extra dividend back, I have been getting back about 15% for the past few years so that will lower my cost below a $1,000 for the year.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

i just got a quote from geico on the internet. I'm currently paying about $1000 for six months for two cars with Progressive. Geico wanted about $1700, or 70% more, with less coverage.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

$800 for 6 months?????

I have AAA insurance...... (AAA Chicago Motor Club) I pay about $700 a YEAR for full coverage on my mark........ 1000 collision deductible, $50 Comp deductible, 100,000 / 300,000 liability.

And I have a speeding ticket on my record!

http://www.autoclubgroup.com/chicago/welcome.asp

I found out, your comp & collision rates go DOWN if you raise your liability coverage...........

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

$700 a year? That's hard to believe, I think you may have something less than I do. Mine is as follows:

Persomnal injury 50,000
Addl personal injury 100,000

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

Guys I am with Progressive and live in PA. I can be in NJ in 15 minutes. I pay $1700 a year for 2 cars, 300/300. I am 31, wife is 29, I have 1 speeding ticket and I just bought a house this past Christmas. Beat that!

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

I'm paying $1200 for six months for my one and only car through Geico. $500 deductible, no glass, with $100k limits. I am happy 'cause it went way down after my ticket went off my record (so I currently have a clean driving record). Progressive, in this case, was about the same, but from my non-empirical experience, Geico is the better company.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

Jon, do like we did, take the safe driver course and you'll save quite a bit each year.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

Progressive, in this case, was about the same, but from my non-empirical experience, Geico is the better company.

I filed two claims with progressive (both on the same day). They sent out a truck and had a check in my hand the same day.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

Geico will never get a dime of my money, regardless!

They make a practice of going around the USA buying radar and laser units and giving them to small town police depts. for their use in setting up speed traps.

I know this because twice over the past years they have bought units for my home town, and it was reported in the local newspaper.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

Geico sucks! Yeah, they are cheap, but that shows when you have to make a claim. I was with them about 8 years ago. I was in a little fender bender and they would let me go to only one body shop in the Twin Cities. The body shop didn't do a very good job either. I changed companies son after that. Maybe they have gotten better since then, but I don't want to find out.

RE: GEICO lowered my rate

...I was in a little fender bender and they would let me go to only one body shop in the Twin Cities...

Allstate used to be famous for that also. In NY it is against the law for insurance companies to do that. Here, and I assume many other States as well, the consumer has a right to go to any body shop of their choice for estimate and repair.
