What is it with the ####'ing hail?

Those are my hash marks, so you moderators don't get your panties in a bunch.

For AT LEAST the fourth time this summer, it's hailing again outside as I type this. I live in an apartment, so my car sits out all the time. Before this year, I don't remember when it ever hailed this often. Now it seems like every other frikkin' day. So far I've been lucky. Trixie, who lives, at most, a half mile away from me, wasn't so lucky a few weeks ago. I'm beginning to think my Mark is destined to be ruined.

Well, it's stopped now. I guess I'll go outside and see if there's any damage.

It's starting to storm here keep the hail there.
Bummer not having not even a carport.
I bought my mark last summer from florida, at the time I was living in a townhouse with three cars. I hated not having a garage.
I bought a house again 6 months ago with a 26x27 garage. The Mark was covered and not driven last winter, so I feel your pain.

Only time it's ever hailed while I had my mark I was sitting at the ford dealership with my car safely tucked into an alcove getting some tender loving care.

Maybe you'll get lucky and get a new paintjob out of it... :) On the insurance company......

Yeah, I don't know what's up, it just doesn't seems to stop hailing around here lately. At least my car was in the garage last night.

I hope you didn't get any damage Mark. I wonder if some sort of car cover would help?

Seen Hail twice just this week down here.. But since I can’t wash my car anymore in the summer (because it rains once or twice a day) I completely neglected the car's exterior visual appearance until the winter.

Its hailed here twice so far this summer in St. Louis. Both times my car was sleeping in the garage. Didn't even wake him up. :)

We've been lucky so far this year. My car spends the nights in the garage (I had to make it clear to pops that the leased bravada can sit outside, the lincoln needs a garage) but if it comes while i'm at work, i'm in trouble.

My freshly-painted bumper did get completely destroyed (it literally looks sandblasted) when a storm kicked up a bunch of dust while i was cruising down the highway. I'm still disgusted about that.

It looks like the Mark made it through again. I gave it a once-over this morning and everything looks OK.

Sorry to hear about the hail, whas there a whole lot of damage? Just a word to the wise, usually when there is hail, there may be threats of tornados.

Yes, lots of damage in the whole area. Since the first episode of hail (what are we up to now, 4?) State Farm for one has a big tent set up in a parking lot for catastrophic damages, and there are PDR places set up in tons of parking lots and gas stations, giving out free estimates.

The day it hailed real bad the tornado sirens went off, but I don't think there were any near here (we don't usually have tornados this close to the city).

As an aside, I decided not to go with paintless dent repair for my hail damage. The body shop talked me out of it, as my damage is so extensive, and I guess a couple of car manufacturers have stated that PDR is not an acceptable way to repair damage like that.

I've always wondered if you catch it in time if throwing a couple of blankets across the hood/roof/trunk could stop the damage? Couple of years ago a freak hail storm struck late in the afternoon while I was at work. I ran out to my car and drove it to a local self-serve car wash with six-bays and hid under there for 15 minutes till it passed. Unless you stay tuned to local weather conditions, a hail storm is difficult to predict or prepare for :(.

How large was the hail that caused damage? Here in Florida hail is usually small (1/2 inch or so).

In 2001 I was out in St. Louis visiting in-laws when a really bad storm hit. There was 3 torandos and hail the size of softballs. I only had the Escape for a month (paid the 1st payment). I had to have the roof cut out and replaced, a new hood, back hatch, ad all the doors had to be repaired. Thank god for car insurance. Total bill was just over 8k for the work. Guy at the repair shop here in New York said he never seen so much damage from hail.
