Hurricane Isabel

As those of us in Florida breath a sigh of relief, we hope this storm diminishes and turns northeast. If it comes ashore I hope the damage is negligible. Our power companies are preparing crews and equipment to be sent wherever needed and the Red Cross is mobilizing refrigerated trucks for food and water. I hope the LOD members in the path of this storm are prepared and fare well. The USA is a wonderful country where we may differ but in a crisis we pull togather.

RE: Hurricane Isabel

Thanks for the nice words. I am north of Philly and may not be in as much toruble as the people between NC and NJ. However the storm looks like it is getting weaker and hopefully by the time it hits land it will calm down.

RE: Hurricane Isabel

Good luck! I was down in Charleston when the Hurricane (Floyd maybe?) came through in '99. It missed Charleston, but it looked like it was going that way, so they evacuated. Talk about gridlock. It took me 4 hours to go like 10 miles, and another 2 to go the next 10. Then they finally opened up the incoming side of the highway to outgoing traffic, so i cut across the median, drove another 10 miles, and it was a parking lot again. We were all sitting there with our cars shut off chatting with our "neighbors". I was parked in the fast lane of the highway facing the wrong way :).

RE: Hurricane Isabel

Ouch, I was in Ocean City, Maryland for Bertha. I was stuck in a hotel room while the wind was pushing rain under the door. It was sick man.

RE: Hurricane Isabel

I am very worried here. Our house is directly across the street from a country park. The boarder between the park's edge & our street is lined the entire length of this street with huge trees. The street is just 27 feet wide and then our property. Across the street from my house are a possible 11 trees within striking distance of my house. If any of those 11 fall, my house is toast.

The neighbor whose backyard touches my backyard has two huge trees, if either falls on the garage, there goes the blue McLaren & the Caddy. Conbined mileage on the two of them is 11,000. I called to see if the storage place where my other 2 McLarens are would allow me to rent 2 more spaces there for 1 week at the normal fee. They can't do it as they are on computer to the national chain that owns them and have no way to process the transaction.
All the ground is soft too from almost constant rains! Last night was like another drenching downpour, like the 8th in the 16 days this month. :(

RE: Hurricane Isabel

Sandy, beware of NE winds.....the right quadrant of Izzie will have the punch.....check your yard for anything that will fall from NE to SW....

HAVE FUN!!!

RE: Hurricane Isabel

I live five miles from the ocean in southern Delaware. Hopefully everything will be okay here. Trees falling seems to be the biggest concern here along with some flooding. The winds are starting to pick up as I speak,uh type, this now. Here comes Isabel!

RE: Hurricane Isabel

Okay, good! ALL cars except the new Lincoln are in indoor, underground storage at a former furniture manufacturing plant, now an underground storage facility. The Lincoln is home and for the first time ever......in the garage! :) All yard furniture is away for the winter in the basement. That is all I can do. I certainly cannot cut down the 11 trees across the street from my house, nor the 3 in my neighbor's yard, ALL of which are within crushing distance!

This is really scary. Everyone over here is in a greatly heightened state of "crankiness" and super up-tight !

Oh, today is my (our) 20th wedding anniversary! 20 years of bliss! :) Yes, I'd do it all again. No regrets! So...... I'll probably be off the board, tonight! :) :)

RE: Hurricane Isabel

RE: Hurricane Isabel

How kool ~ I didn't expect that! Thanks to you all for the good wishes!!

Weather-wise, it's blowen up & getting windy & dark! The worst part will be TOMORROW & TOMORROW NIGHT !

If am am off board (LOD) it's because we have no power! :(

RE: Hurricane Isabel

That's funny, i got that pic in an email yesterday too. But in my email, there was also a pic of a boat impaled on a dock post, and another pic that i'd love to post but can't: A woman flashing her boobs from the passenger seat of a cop car as the cop car does a fat burnout.
