First of all there is a set of posting guidelines for those participating here.

http://www.lincolnsclub.org/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID59&conf=DCConfID15

Next point, members who don’t agree with some of those guidelines are more then welcome to increase their active participation and suggest revisions and improvements to the ROC or anything else to improve the LOD community in any way.

Violating the ROC and having that post removed then complaining about it is entirely the wrong way to accomplish that change.

RE: Begin here

Deleting posts without having the courage to give an explanation is the wrong way to moderate a message board.

RE: Begin here

There is plenty of history on deleting posts for no reason...(it just happens to be on the other Board)

This Board doesn't need to go there.

That’s the only reason I usually come here.

I left the other board due to the same reason this board is starting to show.

At first, I thought as a small group, we understood each other, and we wouldn’t have this hierarchy thing going on, but I guess not.

RE: Begin here

First of all the 2 threads in question were removed by 2 different moderators.

Thread 1 went because it was a clear violation of the ROC, and with less then 300 reads and 436 registered users it would appear some need to make themselves aware of what is and isn’t acceptable, especially where ebay links are concerned.

Thread 2 went because it was purely argumentative over a topic that by the measure of the ROC deserved to be removed so it went too.

It’s my opinion that this discussion really should be happening in the members area.

RE: Begin here

Keep in mind also that anything removed here is strictly in accordance with the published ROC whereas on the old site it can be quite arbitrary and many times rules are made up on the fly. Example being any mention of the LOD warrants suspension over there even though no such rule exists in it's ROC.

The rule about the ebay thing is quite simple... NO postings unless it is an auction by a member or it is a completed auction. While the post in question was a lot of fun to look at (I for one am still laughing at it) all that was necessary was to post it after the auction was over.

RE: Begin here

The "ebay" rule is outdated and should be reviewed......I doubt that anyone with a lick of sense is going to get caught up with inflating prices for someone elses (or even their own) gains....If not, well...so be it.....There are valuable items that show up on ebay for reasonable prices that can be used by members..

Its FREE information that is available to all..

You can bid on it...or not bid on it....its an adult decision.

So why stick our heads in the ground?

Why be afraid of the ebay effect?

Just another reason LOD is dying...

THIS IS THE ZERO's....NOT THE 90's!

AMEN !

RE: Begin here

Deleting posts here is NOT an isolated incident. It happens quite often. I've had it done to me a few times...the moderators will know this because I complain about this. I was told once it was because it was a "useless" post..(unlike the Madonna kissing Brittany post..that was REALLY helpful..). I've also seen posts were someone was "offended" at a remark in a post, yet the person who the remark was directed towards thought it was amusing/or didn't care...yet the moderators took it upon themselves to decide that the post was bad, even thought the "victim" wasn't complaining......Sometimes I've had to ask myself if somehow Cal has weaseled his way in here as a moderator...

And yes, the E-bay thing is complete BS.....

RE: Begin here

Just another reason LOD is dying...

That's going a bit far! We are open to all Lincoln's while the other is only open to Mark VIII which can only mean a finite number of users who can only diminish. IMO the only reason for problems here are people coming from the other side to cause problems and instigate trouble.

RE: Begin here

I think that it's a lot easier for new Mark VIII owners to find the other site, which is inherently not good for our site. We need to have a steady stream of new blood to keep this club going, and that's not really happening. there are all kinds of newbies on that other site.

On the other hand, i really like the site here the way it is. there are a lot of immature people on that other board, that never made it over here, and i kinda like it that way.

Hopefully the markviii.org domain will belong to the LOD again soon, and we can try to merge the two boards. There is a lot of valuable information in the archives on that other board, and most of that rightfully belongs here. As well as all the people that continue to find that board, most of them should be finding the LOD board, rather than just "markviii.org."

RE: Begin here

One way to help guide newbies here is by submitting this URL to the search engines. Whenever any of you sees a link anywhere that allows you to freely submit URLs to search engines then by all means do it.

RE: Begin here

I didnt even know this was the official site until Geno set me strait, when I bought my chip.I thought the "other" site was ours:'(
