I visit 3 other sites. There are NO moderators on any of them because people only talk about the cars that those sites are dedicated to. Birthdays, Anniversaries, new cars, new jobs & new homes are usually announced, as well as children's graduations and the occasional death of a person, pet or a new pet, but that's about it. One site allows e-bay postings, and the other 2 do not, and there has never been any problem with that. One site has a miniscule number of active users when compared to us here, and the other two are very busy. I am oft times in wonderment as to why we fight so much here. I try to draw comparasions, but I come up blank!
One is my own ascMcLaren site, one is the biggest Cadillac site on the web and one is the Allante (dedicated) site and the last is the Town Car site, dedicated soley to Town Cars. The Town Car site has an unusually large number of young people (under 33) and nobody ever calls us older guys "Old Foggies" or anything nasty at all.

While WE may change a couple of rules here at the LOD, remember we are angering people who hate the "family-bickering" and they are quitting, or "taking a vacation". I don't go over to the old site, but you can be sure they are also enjoying it!!
Cool it, brothers & sisters If change is meant to be and if we are going to have a say in it, lets REALLY try to let cooler heads prevail and speak nice to each other (at least in "public")

It's just in agreement to something that someone said. Its the only way I could figure out how to snap my fingers on the internet....

Sandy- take a look at the demographics of some of those other sites you visited, im sure they do not have the extreme diversity that we are seeing here. That diversity is something that definitely defines our club, and we need to embrace it and respect everyone within it.

I think its too bad we cant get this much activity in a post that shares real car knowledge both mechanical and other ...A Good debate on how something works ,or what was the most rare accessory available on any given Lincoln..Its ok if its not useful ,if it is interesting , or makes you think .For instance , why does "clocking the MAF" work there are no moving parts in MAF to make a difference .It must work many people say it has solved their problem , but why...I have my theories , how about you ?How many times do we have 300 people read and 3 answers. we have 297 people who didn't like the post , if so ,say-so and why , or do we have 297 people who don't care,If you don't care about what is being posted then post something you do care about and we can all get involved.Do to the nature of this car ,I would say there is probably all types of professionals present ,who could answer any question.
Having said that ,right or wrong this could be a legitimate gripe and has a right to be posted . Which is probably why its still here , and a subject for club officers to determine if there needs to be change..

It's funny you mention crownvic.net or .org, those two used to exist and there was a falling out/flamefight where a lot of backbiting occurred. I think only one remains and it was just one of those stupid personal pride issues that started the falling out. Glad they pulled out and it is a good board, but it seems like a lot of car boards evolve this way. Personally, I think it is a good thing that not everybody here has a million posts. That means we are out having fun with our cars.
