Hi there! Just registered and was refered here by my friend, Grand LS 400. I'm actually a Panther Platform guy (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Town Car, Marauder) but I recently picked up an interest in the Mark VIII.
I am to be purchasing a Grand Marquis LS with an Export Handling Package (Overseas marketing term for the Handling and Performance Package). I am currently in my final year of study in Scotland, so I was going to be making my purchase when I return...but I'm starting to think twice now.
There are no Lincoln Mark VIIIs in Kuwait, but you can see some of the previous Mark Series Lincolns on the road, although very few. I'm highly considering a '98 Mark VIII LSC, which I would be importing from the US. It then has the advantage of being the only one in Kuwait. However, my only worry would be maintance. We've got a wide range of the Ford line up, but we never had any Mark VIIIs imported. So I'm worried about having to face problems related to spare parts...but I will be doing some research when I return Home. If the result is positive, then I will probably go ahead with the purchase. Until then, I'll be sticking around here gathering as much information as I can! :D Ford forums tend to be friendly, so I hope its the same here. Glad to be on the board! :)

Where are you going to school in Scotland?

As far as parts for the Mark VIII, you can always have them shipped, but you will need an other car while you wait.

Thanks for the welcomes! :)

Steve, I am currently in Edinburgh. Used to be in Glasgow for 2 years, but now I'm moved over. Final year of my degree before an MBA hopefully!

RE: New Member

Welcome to the site. Hopefully you won't need any maintainance parts other than a blend door motor and some brake rotors. :)

Thanx for the welcome, Alexander! :)

We have Mustangs and some Mustang Cobras being imported though...would any of the Mark VIII parts be shared with any of these vehicles? :)

Welcome Abdullah. Be sure to join the LOD, it will help you save a lot on parts.

I wouldn't worry too much about the part problem. Overseas shipping of a part would only take two or three days and I'm sure you have plenty of competent mechanics in Kuwait giving the proliferation of US cars. I'd say invest in a shop manual just in case nobody has one there.

I don't blame you from moving from Glasgow to Edinburgh. I have been to both cities and Edinburgh is nicer.

Most of the motor parts and rear end parts are interchangable with the CObra's. The Tranny in the GT's are almost the same as the Mark VIII's.

That is about it though.
