RE: It's Official! (Final F1 race results inside)

After Shuey tried (and was punished) for the hugely blatant block on Villeneuve when Jaques was trying to wrap up his championship, I've never been a fan of Shuey. He's dirty, and it seems the rules in F1 can be bent if your name is Shuey or Ferrari. FIA stands for Ferrari Is Almighty. That being said, there's no denying his talent. But I think he may be the best in the world...not EVER, but at F1. Why?? Keep watching MotoGP, and you'll see Rossi being the greatest rider (driver) of all time. Having won the title every year since he entered the class, inclusing his ROOKIE year, Rossi looks all but unbeateable. Previously he won the GP 250cc AND 125cc classes. And he's about to clinch his third GP title in a row. And he's like 24! I know Shuey is dominant, but Rossi is moreso -- as a rookie he won 11 of 16 races in his first year. He is one of the most impressive drivers or riders you'll ever see, in any race division. He's never had fewer than 13 pole position in any year..and there are only 16 races per year. If you're a race fan, you have to watch Rossi...HE'S history in the making........

He has had it comming for some time , I am not a big fan of F1 , but Schumacher is truely one of the best..

RE: It's Official! (Final F1 race results inside)

IMHO, Schumacher and Villenuve aren't even in the same league. Villeneuve won ONE title driving the best car and hasn't done a damn thing since, except whine, complain and criticize his team. I thought it was quite entertaining when I heard something on SPEED about his future in F1:

"No one wants him."

You can't argue with six World Championships, 70 GP wins, and 50+ poles. Fangio was before my time, but I really wish I had watched Senna and Prost when they were competing. I didn't particularly care for Michael at first, but in the face of the dominating McLarens of the late 90s, he hung in there to pull off four straight world championships.

I'd love to see Kimi and Michael on the same team, not to mention Montoya/Michael, or the Shuey brothers. Imagine where Ferrari would be if they were depending on Barrichello to win races for them???

I thought this was interesting. There are 860 people on the Ferrari GP Team. I would have never guessed there were that many....

Back in the mid 90's, I had an opportunity to be employed by the Williams GP Team. I would not be on the team that travels with the cars, but stayed in house. I would be making parts for the car. The wage was pathetic, but it would have been interesting.....

I was watching back in 92-93-94 when Prost and Senna went at it. These guys today's cars are too good. I takes too much of the skill out. Even the cars of previous years that had trick bits weren't as good as these guys.

Prost and Senna were incredible. You think Mshu is good now? Hopefully next year the nascar channel (speed) will show the 94 season. That was a good year.

As far as Jvil, he sucks. I hope he does better in sports cars (where he says he wants to go next) though, I wouldn't put him on my team.

I though Sato coming home in the points in Jvil's car was a fitting end to his run with BAR.

I've been checking out the F1 Decade program too. It's a cool show that I hope stays around. The cars of just ten years ago seem so old now. It's amazing how technology has progressed.

I'm sure the telemetry systems, traction control and especially the semi-automatic transmissions have taken away a lot of the "skill" associated with driving, but at the same time this has influenced the skill level of the mechanics and engineers. F1 has been very influential in producing the technology for tomorrows road going cars. Taking 3.0 Litres and squeezing over 800 HP out of it without forced induction is no a simple task. Plus, every year you have teams with MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of dollars working hard to get that extra edge.

With all the competition and technology involved with F1, I find it hard to believe that they are still using carbeurators in NASCAR. I'm no NASCAR hater, but c'mon guys, it's time to make catch up with the times...

Why does Jacques suck? Jaques won the title when he had the best car. Shuey won the titles when he had the best car. Jaques car has been dreadful since...well since the start of the BAR team. No one else on the BAR team has had any results to cheer about.

Was Rookie of the year in his CART debut

Wins the Indy 500 and the title the next year

Finishes 2nd in rookie year of F1

Wins F1 title his 2nd year

Go toes BAR...goes to CRAP!!! LOL

Jaques is a very good driver, on a very bad team...

RE: It's Official! (Final F1 race results inside)

I personally don't think he "sucks", no one in F1 sucks for that matter. I've seen Michael win when he didn't have the best car and it's not only winning, but PLACING and driving a great race that matters.

I mean Damon Hill won the title too. He never got any respect, and he never did anything else.

Now look at Kimi, he's embarrassing DC, and he ALMOST won the title this year! He's not in the best car either. I think the Williams and Ferrari are better cars, but that's just my opinion. Look at the standing this year, Ferrari, McLaren, Williams, Ferrari, Williams, Renault, McLaren. The competition is getting fierce!

JV's teammate finished the season with almost three times as many points (17:6). He's not even the number one driver on the team! I don't care for the guy, but I don't hate him either.

I am a Fan of the F1 cars themselves more so than any of the drivers. The ferrari team has a $300 million a year budget plus they get free engines from ferrari.

The technology in those cars are amazing, you really have to know what you are looking for to see most of the awesome points of the car. I am currently designing a Formula SAE racing car on a $60k a year budget and we cant afford the carbon fiber monocoque.

F1 Engineers are the brightest and the best, but all the fun is taken out of it due to the intense pressure and lack of job security

RE: It's Official! (Final F1 race results inside)

Danoz,

That was one of the reasons I opted not to go work for the Williams team...job security. I have a pal who worked for the Stewart Ford team. Everytime there was an engine failure, he'd just about faint, he was that concerned. Then he would say the next time I spoke to him that the part that failed in the engine wasn't in HIS area of the engine. He'd say "It was the valvetrain guys problem". I sounded funny, but the job was very intense.

I can remember Shoey back when he drove a Jordan sponsored by 7-up, and has what was considered a "revolutionary" front wing. He was good then, he is greatness now. Success breeds contempt. he is probably the most popular driver ever to pilot a F1 car, and the most un-popular driver at the same time. F1 and Moto-GP are not even remotely related, except they involve tracks, engines, pilots, and insanity!
Mansell, Senna, Prost, those were the greats, back when F1 required more skill than paddle wheels, and braking controls. Plus they drove on slicks, and rarely made pit stops. Bernie Eccelstone needs to fall off his horse again, re-bump his head, and make F1 what it used to be... a world driving championship series, not a "who can conform to to the rules the best" extravaganza.
Me, Monaco G.P., Inside tunnel, 1990 race.. that is where I would go if i could be "transported" for 1 hour of my life. :)~
