What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

Sprint, but i don't like they're service or pricing. It doesn't work in my room and the web stuff has been hit-and-miss. Plus it's a camera phone and i have to pay them every time i use the camera. I'm getting the same or worse service than i was with AT&T and i'm paying more.

I had Ameritech (now cingular) for a long time and they suck too.

AT&T was good for me.

You can never stick with one provider any more, because to get a good deal you have to be a new customer. Kinda funny how they push business away, eh?

edit: i forgot what board i was on, i had to clean up my language :)

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

Get advice from people in your area. Service quality seems to vary greatly depending on your location.

For example, I have Cingular service and I am quite happy with it, but I've heard bad news from folks in other states (Dave, I'm looking in your direction ;) :) ).

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

AT&T GSM network with family plan. Works very well, excellent coverage. Sony Erricson T68i phones with Blutooth wireless so they sync with the Mac each other.

I used to have Sprint... no coverage
I tried T-Mobile... no coverage

Went to AT&T and never looked back, although a little more expensive at lease it works!

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

I have Verizon and it works great about 90% of the time. The other 10%, just bitch to them about it and they'll sort it out.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

I just got a Motorola V60i from Qwest a few months ago. Very nice phone. I love flip phones they are so much easier to carry with you.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

I have a Motorolla from T-mobile and I'm pretty happy with it. There are obviously some areas where I don't get a great signal, but it's usually good and I think the price plan is somewhat reasonable. The thing I'm most happy about with them is the customer service. It's quick and they get what I need done.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

i switched from sprint to at&t. i kept missing calls and getting the messages instead. at&t is a huge step up in this area. much fewer missed calls. im using a real old nokia right now. i wanna get a new phone but its at the end of a long list.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

Motorola V60i & T-Mobile. I am satisfied with both.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

Motorola V60i Cingular, have very few problems. I have had Sprint and Nextel and phone service from both suck (at least for me). Cingular is the only one where almost anywhere I go I get service. T-mobile sucks the worst of all. Very affordable pricing, and tons of minutes, but no where to use them. I met a guy at the Airport who had T-mobile. His phone had no service at the Airport? What's up with that? He borrowed my phone. He told me he was switching when he got home, contract or not.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

motorola 720 with verizon. I hate to say it but verizon has the best service of any provider I have been with... :O(

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

I was with at and t for 7 years. They were slowly getting worse. But I was with the TDMA network, not the GSM.
I switched to Sprint and I hate them with a passion. It is the worst service I have ever had.Unfortunately I am stuck in a contract for 2 years. No service in my house.I drop at least 5 calls a day.
Id gladly pay more money if the damn thing worked.
It is a camera phone though, which is pretty cool at the strip clubs.LOL

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

I have been with verizon more or less since their inception. I have always had motorola phones, currently the v60i. Inconviniently, there happens to be a black hole at my house that no wireless provider seems to be able to reach, but I have been all over the country and never had a problem, even called from puerto rico with no extra charges. And since I have been with them for so long, they keep on giving me free stuff on my plans, more minutes, nights start @ 7pm, weekends start fri not sat, unlimeded nights and weekends, call forwarding (since there is no service at the house), free text messaging, the list goes on. I dont use half of the stuff, but its there if I need it. They treat me right, so I see no reason for switching. There are definitely some sketchy spost as far as recption goes, but then again, im in the back woods of NH, as much can be expected.

The only thing that will still get service is my old analog bag phone. it weighed a TON (ok, i think it was 4 lbs, but still) but it had a 5 watt transiever, I swear that thing would get reception in a lead box. What is my little flip phone, like .3 watts or something like that...

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

I have verison here in upstate Ny and love it. I lost my phone while tracking a deer for a friend. I just upgraded to the LP picture phone. Man is it great. I paid 150 for it and by resigning a contract I got a $50 rebate on it so not to bad. They also are giving away a free cheaper flip phone when you by one as well.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

T-mobile is the best. With thier GSM service, i can use my phone (or buy any fone worldwide) and still be able to use it here. They have many Nokia phones in europe we do not have. People down there change phones every 6 months, kinda like a fashion thing. But i do have to admit, they have some good phones, i picked up a Nokia 6610 last year, and im very happy with it.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

This generation has become obsessed with the telephone and have lost sight of the fact that it's a telephone. Every member of the house needs his/her own phone! People change phones more often than they water their house plants, for gosh sakes! My parents phone bill was $35.00 a month for a BLACK phone on the kitchen and an extension upstairs. My bill is now $225 a month for 2 cell phones (wife could care less = no cell phone) 1 mine & 1 for Matt. 2 numbers in the house, call waitng, call block, call busy, call this and call that, two phones - one 2-line phone, one normal. Every 4 months Matt sees a new phone he can't live without. He now buys them with $$$ he earns, no more from me.
What has happened to people with the phone? It's a tool - like hammer. You buy a new hammer every 4 months? Thsi has got to be the biggest snow job any industry has ever hoodwinked the public into. People HAVE to drive & be on the phone, ya see them, put in key, turn key, shift into drive and call somebody.
My lifelong buddy had a phone installed in his nathroom, on the wall next to the toilet, so he could "sit & talk" ~ Then the wife said the phone's color did not match the bathroom and called to have the color changed...white to light beige.

...and they think I am car-nutts :) Venting early in the AM !!!!!!!

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

I couldn't agree more, Sandy. For those with cell phones... check the life timer on the phone. The number may shock you. But, I am on the phone for work a lot. I sometimes long for the days of driving from the jobsite to the nearest pay phone to phone the boss.

I draw the line on the phone in the bathroom... I know no one I need to "sit and talk" to... although I do know a few that do have phones in the bathroom. I don't take my cell phone in the bathroom either anymore. Once I laughed out loud in a public restroom when the darn thing started beeping just as I...

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

Jeez - I must be the only one here that doesn't have a cell phone!

My previous employer wanted to get me a cell phone so I could take tech support calls on my way to client appointments! Yea, right! It seems the only time I get any peace and quiet is when I'm driving, so I have no desire to get a cell phone...

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

I fully agree with Sandy! Nothing amuses me more than the kids walking in pairs in the mall each on a cell phone, I always wonder if they are talking to each other!

While cell phones are a great device most people can certainly reduce their use by 95%. For business use and emergencies they are indispensable. My wife just called for directions back to her office from where she was because she got tuned around in Queens and didn't know where she was (GOOD USE OF THE PHONE) 15 minutes earlier she called to tell me that her meeting with two people turned into one with four people and blah blah blah (BAD USE ESPECIALLY WHILE DRIVING AND GETTING LOST.)

I never give my cell phone number to clients or anyone else unless they absolutely have a reason to have it. If I'm not in, they can leave a message on the office machine and I'll call them back.

RE: What kind of Cell Phone does everyone have?

now i disagree with that Leo. My phone is my life-line, my phone book, my secretary, and my schedule book. Im very rarely at home unless im sleeping or using the garage, and my home # is on the outgoing message that I use when I am at home. Working 2.5 jobs, flying planes for training, flying other peoples planes (for free..) and attending school full time, I am always on the road. And while I would like to be able to rest while driving, I cant spare the time. I have a speaker and headset that mounts on my headrest. Swing down mic, completely hands free and also utilizes the voice recognition funtion in my phone. It is no more a distraction than if I was talking to someone that was sitting next to me. If I didnt use the phone while driving, that would essentially be 2.5 to 3 hours a day comletely wasted.
