EEEEK Big Pic---good thin I got cable.

DO you monitor the mars missions with those things on your roof or is that for talking to your home planet?

The three panels toward the rear of the BUD (Big Ugly Dish) are the solar water heater panels. As you can tell from the snow on the plumbing, there will be no solar heated water in the Heep household today (we have electric backup.) If you look right along the top/front edge of the house you'll see the little dish. Just barely visible at the end of that top edge is a tiny curve that is part of the up-link dish for the Internet access.

I had to go up on the roof and brush the snow off of the uplink dish -- there was no Internet access when I got up.

The Big dish worked fine; the little dish had weak signal and the uplink dish was DOA due to the snow.

Somehow, I don't buy it.

#1. You're in Dallas Texas. I don't think it really snows LIKE THAT in Dallas

#2. I do believe that's a Cadillac in the photo, yes??

The ONLY GM product that ever stayed here was a 1960 Cheby Impala that I help my father restore. And it stayed in the garage. (Of course I did sell a 1963 Sting Ray back in '84 to have enough money to build the house in the first place, but it never stayed here.)

What you are seeing is our F350. It has to shiver outside in the snow, while the Lincolns and Mercury sits nice and warm in the garage.

You call that snow? What is that, 4 inches? Although I guess for Dallas that's a lot.

RE: Snow Covered Home 1.2Meg Picture

Oh, you are good.

Dallas got slightly more -- about 6 to 8 inches.

I live WEST of Dallas about 60 miles. We are WEST of Fort Worth about 35 miles.)

I wish we would only get 4in here in chicago.

IM sick of shoveling

I only got about 4 inches at my house, my BUD (big useful dish) was on the fringes of losing any useable signal until I went out there with a broom and cleaned the dish. Jerry I got a 10'. How big is yours, I noticed you have the extension panels on it the last time I was out there. All the neighborhood kids enjoyed it. Of course it's all melting now.

RE: Snow Covered Home 1.2Meg Picture

It's a 6 foot solid dish with two foot extensions.

RE: Snow Covered Home 1.2Meg Picture

You said it!
You don't have to deal with snow.
Just Earthquakes, Mudslides and Forest Fires :)

I'm glad to see I'm not the last BUD owner.:) IMHO, it beats the small digital dishes hands down. I do have a 4DTV reciever to pickup digital signals with the big dish, however it's rarely used.
