ZEPHER ~ Part II

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

HA! That was the best line of the month Sandy! Total LOL!!!!

By the way - big time disappointment in the engine -- a 3000cc mill? Ick - why can't they just drop ina 4.6 and let it soar!

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

Awesome in looks, YES ~ But ... Caddy CTS is a V-8, the new CTS-V is a monster V-8, a Corvette mill. The new Chrysler 300 is a Hemi with 345 H.P. BOTH are RWD ! What is it with Ford??????? Front Wheel Drive and a 6 ???? No "car-guys" are gonna touch it. It sould have had an off the shelf Mustang Cobra V-8, come with a 4-Speed Automatic, a 5-Speed Manual as a no charge option, and been RWD !
(They need me, there)!!

PLEASE no more 4-speed auto's, if ford cant make a 5 or 6 speed auto, then they should leave the car business, and go into lawnmores. ALL benzs come with a standard 7-speed auto.

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

Well according to that site the car is AWD. The CTS is 50k. I'm sure this lincoln will go for less than that. Remember that the regular CTS has either 220hp (31k) 265hp (34k)or the 400hp (50k). I'm sure if ford wanted to they could drop in their new 3 valve supercharged 4.6 in there but only time will tell.

I don't disagree but here are the facts about Benz's.

C-Class - 5 speed auto
E-Class - 5 speed auto
G-Class - 5 speed auto
M-Class - 5 speed auto
S-Class - 7 speed auto
SL-Class - 7 speed auto
CL-Class - 7 speed auto

As you can see, only the very highest priced Benz's come standard with 7 speeds cars for which FoMoCo has no direct competition.

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

as far as looks go (aside from the extra doors), this looks like more of a successor to the mark then that mark x does.

I’m very sure I read that in a magazine somewhere. Could be for the 2005 models.

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

The rear end looks really familiar to me...I can remember 'shopping that rear end years ago when the first Mark 9 concept appeared. It looks AWESOME IMHO!!!

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

Just beacsue it's FWD it doesn't mean it's going to be ill handling! I mean the Mark VIII we currently drive is no "driver's car" by todays standards. I mean unless you REALLY REALLY push it, you just won't see a difference on the street. Maybe if smokie burnouts is your thing, I can see why you'd like RWD. But in all seriousness, a Toyota Camry is generally regarded as one of the most boring FWD cars to drive. And it scores nearly identical to the Mark VIII in skidpad tests. So give me a break. If anyone wanted a "driver's car" they wouldn't be driving around a 3800lb Lincoln like ours...

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

I LOVE the interior!

Hey guys, I have a question. We currently have two cars, a 1993 MBZ 400SEL and a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. Both have the same KBB value, so which one should we use as a trade-in? I want to dump the Benz and keep the Mark for a few more years, but that isn't the general consensus. How can I convince them?

Oh, and we're trading it (which ever one it may be) in for a 300C - fully loaded :)

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

I bet it will look significantly smaller in a darker color...almost compact-car size.

And, it looks like a crazed Scandinavian was let loose in the cockpit, judging by all of that light wood.

I hope this model fares better than the Blackwood, but I'm doubtful.

I'd rather have a Crown Vic LX Sport...

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

I think everone is missing something here. This new Zepher is an entry level luxury car aimed at a younger buyer. These buyers still want FWD and 6 cyl for economy. If they made the car RWD and 8 cyl then why have the LS? It seems obvious to me that the LS will get a facelift and have exterior and interior styling like the Zepher. Just look at the Navigator and Aviator, they look alike.

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

I see it this way >>>
The CTS & CTS-V are appealing to guys, with their rear wheel drive and V-8s. Likewise, the Chrysler 300C with it's Rear Wheel Drive & Hemi 345 HP V-8, and Macho looking front end. The Zepher is a more appealing car to Non-Car enthusiasts and to women. It's styled softer in lines and less aggrerssive looking, comes with a 6-cyl and front wheel drive, four wheel drive for those coming out of a SUV, with light pecan soft wood interior and soft flowing lines, far less aggressive looking than the 300C. I see the intended buyer as a former "soccor Mom" whose youngest kid is now a Jr or Sr in college, or older, and fearing fuel costs and not needing her Ford Expedition or Dodge Caravan any longer migrating into this car. Dropping down to a 6, but keeping traction with the AWD option.

Since the 2 competitors do not offer AWD, every unit in dealer's stock should be a 4WD model. It's their "foot up" on the competition....
I would not wanna see ths car in a dark color. This is a light metallic color car, ONLY!

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

Looks good inside and out, but I can't get enthused over the drivetrain. AWD is good, but that means adding weight, and I don't know if a 3 liter is up to the task.

They should offer a manual trans like the CTS. That'd get me interested - not sell the car straight out, but it'd get me in the showroom to check out its other virtues. That's what piques my interest in the CTS and Jag X-Type.

The CTS-V is a serious machine, but hardly "entry level." Sure, it has a Corvette engine - and a Corvette price tag!

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

Sandy,

This car in black with a blacked out grille would remind me of a smaller M45. Don't you think??

RE: ZEPHER ~ Part II

Yes, now that you mention it - they share the same "C" pillar & sides. I like that look!!

Here's the receipe:-
M45 Engine. 4WD from Zepher. "C" Pillar & Sides from M45 Infiniti. 5-Speed Auto from the CTS. Interior from the 2005 Q45. Rear end from the Zepher. Front End from the Zepher. BINGO If you have not seen the drop-dead interior of the 2005 "Q-ship" here it be:-
