I might meet the president today!

Mr. Bush is driving through my little town of Xenia today. My Mom in law owns a coffee shop right across from the county buildings which is frequented by all the higher ups, all whom have told her it would be a good idea to keep her shop open today. (can't tell her why, just to leave it open) The president will be driving right in front of it, and whenever he sees a crowd, he likes to stop and talk. This may be my chance to shake his hand, who knows. Even if he just drives by, it'll be fun. How often do you get to see the most powerful man in the world?

RE: I might meet the president today!

Good luck!

Every now and then he flies into Selfridge, which was right across the street from me. They'd close down the frickin road when he flew in, and close down all the highways that he was driving on. Must be nice to be that powerful.

RE: I might meet the president today!

surprises me that he would let a highway be shut down, all those cars trucks, and suvs are putting major dollars in his, dads, dicks, and all the buddies that helped get him elected! on 2nd thought i guess those folks had to drive out of their way and use more gas! makes sense now, anyone else surprised at the price of oil since the texas millionaire took office? heck he can manipulate the system, even if he does have to declare war to justify it.... but the man hasnt really been questioned... sorry about all this i'm really not a political person. hope he enjoys the coffee....

I guess that one was wide open.

RE: I might meet the president today!

I just got back to work, it was a good time. He came out of the bus and shook as many hands as possible, including mine (cool!) He tried to kiss aryanna (my daughter) but someone else threw there kid in front of mine. Oh well. I have a few pics I'll load when I get home. Amanda had the camera so they aren't the best. It was definatly cool to shake his hand, when aryanna is old enough to know what I'm talking about she'll have a good story to share. All she was talking about was meeting the "present", lol. She scared me for a bit, she was wanting some gum, but kept saying "gun" whoops. Luckily no one with earpieces heard her. :)

That would be awesome. Especially if you made the news!

I can see the headline now:

Good story, MaddShadez.

Just to set the record straight, GW is worth under $20 million, and that mainly coming from the sale of the Texas Rangers, not oil. Cheney and Edwards are both worth about twice GW's fortune. Now Kerry is in a whole different level of wealth. With access to his wife's vast fortune of $1 billion plus.

RE: I might meet the president today!

I have personally talked with GW several times before and after his election and it was overrated each time....he always calls me bubba...I hate that.....Two years ago I injured my leg at a Dick Cheney speech at the Fairmount Hotel In SF as I fell I let out a yelp when I opened my eyes I was surrounded by Secret Service officer's speaking in their sleeves asking me If I was shot? That is the reason I am having knee surgery because of that fall...

RE: I might meet the president today!

You guys are amazing. He is just a human being like everyone else on this forum. There is nothing special about him, kerry, or anyone else for that matter. Sounds like some of you cream your jeans when you meet someone rich. What's up with that?

RE: I might meet the president today!

It has nothing to do with his money, it's a respect for his posistion. Here is a man who day in and day out makes decisions that affects the entire world. Only 40 some odd men have held his position in history. Love him or hate him, it's still an honor to shake his hand. But I suppose honor is a concept you don't understand.

That is both low and uncalled for. Who do you think you are that you can ridicule and demean someone who wanted to tell an exciting story? It's one thing to joke around, and it's another to blatantly insult. Don't let your hatred of the president poison how you treat others. Okay, I'm off my soap box now.

Don't underestimate creaming in your jeans.

delete this post I changed my mind.....

RE: I might meet the president today!

I personally wouldn't really care to shake Bush's hand because in my estimation he has hurt this country and this world, however, I guess it's cool that you got to be so close to what was going on. That's a privelige with this administration you know? Did you have to sign an oath of honor to the Republicans? Or is it just such a predominantly Republican area that Bush thought he'd be cool with whoever was there? I mean, I've heard dozens of stories that anyone even slightly vocal about being anti-Bush is immediately banned/removed from such events.
