Motor Trend tests the '05 Mustang GT

Well, 5.1 0-60 and 13.6 1/4 mile for a car costing mid 20's. And that's just the automatic! Maybe I'll have to get a new garage mate for my Mark!

You sure about those #s?? If so that's pretty darn good for a car that "only" makes 300hp. AUTO??!!!
Btw 05 mustangs have dashes that you can change into 125 colors by flipping some switches  .

Well this is according to a friend I have not seen the article myself, though he has no reason to lie. He also told me they had a dyno:

267 whp @ 5275 rpm
283 ft-lbs @ 4350 rpm

That's VERY good for an automatic I think. Either Ford is underestimating their 300 flywheel number or the auto is a real efficient one (or Motor Trend has some sort of special car). If anyone sees a Motor Trend and wants to verify this please do.

Automobile mag got a more reasonable 14.2 ET. Can't wait to see one in person.

That's pretty impressive performance. Was that with a SOHC engine?

Pre-production car....I suspect it's a press "ringer". Just like when the 300C came out..It was REALLY fast with the "press car". But now that they've tested production models, they can't equal their times...This is frequently done to "pump up" enthusiasm..

RE: Motor Trend tests the '05 Mustang GT

I get Motor Trend and I read the article. It is nice, this is one mustang I would own. But the problem will be every one else will have one as well. I think Ford will very good with sales. The reason for the fast 1/4 mile times according the MT is the gearing. 1st to 3rd are very close and the car launches hard, then they say in 4th and 5th it is a dog.
