Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

Looks like lincoln is coming out with a rebadged F150 next year. There's an ad in Car and Driver (January issue) touting the 2006 Lincoln Mark LT. So luxurious, you'll be tempted to pamper it. So powerful, you'll be tempted not to. Travel Well. reserve now for Spring 2005 release.

Looks like a crew cab F150 with some chrome bars on the bedsides and Navigator wheels.

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

That's pretty much what it is. A new name for a second attempt at the Blackwood.

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

Well this time around it looks like it has a functional bed. As long as it comes in 4x4, they'll sell plenty of them.

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

It also is supposed to be $10,000 cheaper also. If that makes a difference?

I seen the same add and think it's blasphemy to use the Mark name on a pickup. ::grrr::

Morons....the Mark nameplate is an Icon....not any more.

I just hope 30 years from now, auto enthusiasts look back and realize...there was an Edsel too!

On one of the "Autoerotica" programs they interviewed a woman at a car show about the Mark LT. She loved it! A functional and luxurious pick-up could be a winner.

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

the only way i approve is if mark splits off and does its own line...like lincoln and mercury are off of ford.....but yet their own entity.

otherwise...it better be a effing awesome truck...

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

There is another ad, same picture I believe, with the tag line 'Give the Bentley a Complex.' I would imagine the LT will do quite well, considerably better than the Blackwood (or the Maruader) did. If, not, well, we'll all have Lincoln trucks to pull our trailered 11-second Mark 8 to the drag strips with. :D

As long as the keep in line with the navigator as far as interior styling... Those damn Cadillac Escalades look the same on the inside as a Silverado... I love how different the inside of a Navigator is compared to an Excursion.

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

I predict another dismal failure for Ford on this one. Who the hell wants to buy a Lincoln truck when they can get the same thing in an F150 for less?

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

There are many wealthy people with hobbies that require pickup trucks. To them cost isn't as important as status, luxury, and amenities. There are whole developments here that cater to equestrians. Many of our parks have riding trails and parking areas for trucks with horse trailers. Boating/fishing is a popular past-time and trucks are better than SUV's for some loads.

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

I personally like it. It would go good next to my Mark, navigator and Escalades.

RE: Car and Driver ad for Mark LT

I like the metallic interior, and what appears to be a full guage cluster (steering wheel in the way). I don't like the fact that it's just a F150 wrapped in inexpensive leather. Oh well they are just gonna do what they want any way. I personally would not buy it, but I'm sure a few folks will.
