THIS is how I thought you'd retire: "We8there is an open forum of restaurant reviews and hotel reviews, we offer listings to business owners for a low yearly cost of $50 to $70 dollars per year."

'Sounds like a plan! Get about a thousand every year and you're covered! :) It does sound like good business for restaurants, to be associated with a site about good restaurants!

BTW, I think its also cool that you run one of the highest "hit" receiving "dining/entertainment" review websites in the country.

This place is lucky to have connections like you. Too bad not many members here take advantage of what your site has to offer...but we're pretty lucky you let a small private "band of loosely organized car enthusiasts" like the members here into a glimpse of what a real website can be capable of.

I wonder if there will be a day a site like this gets 12 million hits a year.

I smell a fire!!! This would be a great place to advertise if I were selling lets see "car parts" or cars or even something close..... BTW do me a favor next time you have a problem with some I post be a man and come to me! Do not hide behind a moderator. "Well he bought a link on LVC why not pay for a link here"? For the record I did not buy a link on LVC it was a simple link exchange. (remember those). If you are gonna be a man be a man!

I did approach you Stanley, three emails in the last few months and never a response. We have people who pay for vendor space here, what is sold has nothing to do with it. Vendor payments are very inexpensive, as low as $100 a year and you get your own forum. Sorry, but IMO this thread and all the others are advertising for a commercial endeavor.

Stanley is proud of his site, as he should be and is promoting it here, among friends. It is not in any way a conflict with paying vendors, who support car related items. We don't have to pay anything for the services his sites provide, but we benefit from them.

Instead of driving away members to get a minimal fee from "advertisers," perhaps we should focus on gaining 5 members to make up for that $$ amount, and then have an even bigger community?

I think this advertising stuff is going way too far, and I thought the members agreed with that in the thread posted quite a while back in the members only forum.

It's up to the BOD to set the rules, and up to the membership to direct the BOD. One person should not be making his or her own rules and pushing them on other members.

Okay, simma down now folks.

We're working on adjusting the advertising rules as we speak. I hate to tell someone they can't put links to their site on the board, but at some point it does become advertising, just like spam.

I don't think we've deleted any of the posts recently, Stanley, but it would be nice if more of your posts were NOT about we8there.com. I'm not going to tell you you can't mention your site, but realize that you posting links to your site repeatedly for free as well as information to draw attention to your business, is not fair to those who pay to advertise.

Well Craig I have decided to take the high road in this case, I said what I wanted to say, and I will leave by saying this. Whenever you post any type of link to another site that can be construed as advertising this is very true, this means hey look this is funny link, look how fast my new Non-Lincoln car goes links, Porn Links, and anything that navigates you to another site links. I spend thousands of dollars every year buying upgrades and fixing my car sometimes I click the links in LOD to buy those parts, spending thousands of my hard-earned money. I also tell my friend to go to LOD, click the link, and make sales.... However, rest assure that everyone involved in this will never see one dollar of my money and I know who you are, this is not a threat this is a promise. If you think you are going to blackmail me in to spending 100 dollars you thought wrong you send me emails requesting I advertise so that I could get my very own forum in LOD what the hell am I going to do with a forum in a car club talk about how fast I cooked that sandwich last night....Instead of offering me a forum what you should have mentioned was the numbers how many page views per day my banner would receive..... My site does 200,000 page views per month that is what I would be telling a perspective advertiser. I am very annoyed by the whole chain of events.... I like this club and I made it my home even after being offered residence in other car club sites. My patience is growing thin though and I will reach a point where I really don't give a damn if I am banned... But no more hiding behind a moderator I don't want any more e-mails from moderators saying someone told me if you don't like something I so or say stop reading my post if you are going to dictate what I post please send me back my 20 dollars I will send it to a food bank... I did not mean to go on a rant.

I like the direction the club is going, but it continues to fall back in the same rut.

I will not undermine, or second guess the moderating staff...that is a no-no, and an e-ticket to threatening emails and a potential suspension or ban.

All I can say is if this site cares more about its paid advertisers than its supporting members, it is destined to fail.

Take care of your soldiers, and they will fight your battles for you.

BTW, Stanley, what is it exactly that you are selling?

I know how much your website means to you. it is your hobby, your "project"...something you take as much pride in as most of us take in our cars. I see no harm in that. if I was(and might be) a paid advertiser, you wont see me complaining about Stanley's links.

I sent a nice e-mail to you Stanley asking if you could please limit posting links to your site because there have been some issues with the whole advertising thing. I never stated or implyed names. I also stated that I didn't personally have a problem with you talking about your site on here for the reasons you stated "nothing to do with cars"

Under the rules I could have removed this post, but I used my judgement not to because in my opinion it really isn't a commerical site and isn't taking anything away from the club or from our paid vendors (he isn't selling anything). People lets not nip pick about things like this. I personally have used Stanley's site when looking for places to eat at cities I travel to. If he didn't post about it on here I would have never known about it.

Stanley, I am sorry this has turned into a pain in the butt for you.

Edit: If people are having issues with others please keep them private. If any member has issues with the rules or how they are being inforced please take it private with a BOD member and keep it out of the forums.
