We have added a new puppy to our house. Maverick is an 8-month-old male Great Dane. He is a big boy and has a fetish for my leather chair.
But, we love him anyway.

My brother in law had one like it a while ago. While playing with the kids in the house one day, his Great Dane got up a bit of speed and couldn't stop and went right through the wall. Literally right through the drywall. He also got hit by a car one time. He was uninjured but almost totalled the guys Chevette. :)

Well the way we figure it the three of them eat 120 pounds of food per month. 40-pound bags are $30 a bag (nutro brand - low protein which these dogs need).
Roxanne, the black one, is 100 pounds and 22 months old, Whisper, the white or harlequin, is 90 pounds and 10 months old, then there is Maverick, the brown or fawn, he is 115 pounds and 8 months old. All of them will continue growing until they are 2 years old. Roxanne is about done. She is small for a Dane. Whisper should be about 130 pounds if she takes after her parents. Maverick, according to the Great Dane Rescue curator we talked to, should add another 2 inches at the shoulder and another 70 pounds.
So I'm sure we will be adding more dollars to the dog food budget.

We're getting a new Rottie puppy this Friday - she'll "only" get to about 90 pounds though. :eek:

Wow, that's a big dog! I am accustomed to minature dachshunds in our home.

90 pounds? In our house that dog would be in the "toy" category.:7

We belong to the Alamo Great Dane Club. They mostly show Fawn Dane's like Maverick here. Lot's of champions in our little club. We don't show, we just go and watch.
