Thought I would introduce myself.

Hi I am Kyle, I am 17 and I love my 1998 Mark VIII Base Model. I am completely self taught with no experience or father, neighbors, friends, etc. who are into cars. Its become kinda an obcession for me and is pretty much all I talk and think about.

Currently its pretty much stock and is up on jackstands for the last 2 weeks trying to get my Novi 1K blower from a 1999 Corba on.

It will be run with an SCT Xcal2, Walbro High Pressure Pump, 42# Injectors, Pro-M in draw through config, stock pulley, etc.

This will be through a stock 4R70W and Stock Rear Diff.

Upgrades to those will probably be a better lock-up converter, HyTran Fluid, and Sunthetic rear diff fluid.

I am keeping the stock 3.07 rear gears cause I try to drive almost exclusively on the high way.

RE: Thought I would introduce myself.

welcome, Kyle...

awesome to see/read about someone who is as obsessed with these machines as I am.

first, that stock tranny....with a blower?....nope.

read here:
http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/index.html#

as for the rear diff...the 3.07 gears might keep you out of the powerband too foten, as the tranny is a wide ratio box...that means you're rpms are quite a bit lower than you might be used to.

However, depending on the amount of boost you plan to run, many here have stated 3.55's or 3.73's seem to be favorable. Keep in mind, without a trac-loc rear end, your not going to be going anywhere fast...even in stock form, these sleds struggle for traction...add boost, and you'll be pretty sad.

Hi Kyle. Congrats on the car, and welcome.

Welcome, and good luck!

If i ever get another mark, it's going to be a cheap one, preferably with a blown trans. I'll jump right in with a manual trans, then go for a blower.
