What a disappointment….

So today I go up north where I keep my projects and a bunch of other junk… I open the gate and pull in look to my left where my slightly rusty 91 mustang “project beater” sits that I have been accumulating parts for some time for. Instantly my jaw drops in astonishment I didn’t even recognize the car. Its crusher bait, completely worthless. Some thieves (at this point no idea who) stripped the entire front end off of the car. The front fenders are gone the front bumper, headlights, header panel, corner lights, hatch, And even the doors that needed to be replaced in my eyes all grew legs unfastened themselves and walked away. I’m so pi**ed/disappointed right now that I really have no clue what to do about it I turned around got in my car and went home (I was out there to hunt). People really have no respect these days and I really hope the people that did this get whats comin to ‘em. I was left with a stripped rolling shell with an interior that is as far as I’m concerned completely worthless… Its not like the car was a rust free svo or gt or anything but still it was mine and was still worth something to me. I haven’t filed a police report yet but honestly around here I doubt any of the police would care one bit. And to think I was actually considering bringing my rust free 80 capri rs up there. HA fat chance now the city can deal with it sitting in my back yard right underneath my bedroom window where I can keep a close watch with a shotgun by my bed.. So now I have a rebuilt 302 edelbrock air gap holley street avenger gears posi and a bunch of other parts that have no use. Now I need to find yet another project.

Oh that is such a shame! Do people who steal realize it's more than just the financial loss that effects people?

RE: What a disappointment….

The types of people that do these things don't think like normal people do. They see it as their gain and could care less about your loss. As a matter of fact, if caught in the act as far as they are concerned you are in the wrong for being there at the wrong time. You interrupted their livelihood. I've had to deal with these types a lot. I say you should be able to shoot one worthless person a year to clear them out.

RE: What a disappointment….

I couldn't trust myself if I were to find someone doing that to my stuff. Nothing I hate worse than a thief. Except maybe a vandal. x(

RE: What a disappointment….

file the report anyway. i got my stolen typhoon back months after it was yanked from my hands. you never know

RE: What a disappointment….

Thats just it the police around here don't care about my loss. The people that did it don't care and worst of all its a loss that will never be regained. I'm still thinking about going down to the PD today anyway but really I've had my experiences with the police in my town and its (sadly enough) too small of a town with too many big headed cops for it to even matter. If I had been there the person would have been shot on site if i had pulled in while they were there they would be either dead or laying in the hospital. We have no trespassing signs all along the road and alot of good family friends live in the area. As far as i know no one saw anything but if it was late enough at night no one would know the difference. The car wasn't even sitting out in the open. But whatever i guess cut my losses and find a new project to start with. We've had things stolen from there before i'm thinking one of those night time deer watching cameras... Actually six of them would work nicely. Hey i might even get some nice shots of the deer i'm tracking!

RE: What a disappointment….

That sucks man. It is terrible that people have no morals anymore. It should be legal to kick the *&^% out of people that steal from you, even after they are caught by police. I got the belt many times when i was little and i turned out just fine. The thief kids obviously had "time out" parents or were never taught respect and morals. Definately file the report. Longer you wait, the the colder the trail gets to the thiefs. Those parts will show up somewhere, and keep and eye out on auctions sites and webpages and ask around at local meets to buy parts.
And there are bigger agencies to call in to correct the one horse cop big head attitude. If they can't help you, go up the chain of command and get someone to teach them how to say "do you want fries with that?" or do their jobs and investigate when there is a problem.

RE: What a disappointment….

I am going to go down there today and file a report if i can find the title for the car. I'm pretty sure its in my dads name as i was under age when i bought the car..That is the problem these days i firmly believe that the belt really does straighten kids out in a hurry and it is a very good lesson learned. I received it when I was young and know damn well had i just gotten a "time out" i would have kept repeating the actions. Really what is five minutes in a chair gonna teach that kid... I would love to get my hands on the people that did it and i will be keeping a very watchful eye out for a painted up mustang next spring. In the meantime the search goes on for a car to accept the donor parts that are left.

Some folks would kill AND steal a car if they felt they could get away with it.

RE: What a disappointment….

Here in New York City they caught a couple of guys who made a hundred thousand dollars stealing Jeep doors and then selling them on eBay. Hope you get your parts back.

Creeps hit heap of Jeeps

Allegedly get 100G stripping Queens vehicles,
selling online

Jeep Wranglers were targeted in a bizarre series of Queens thefts.

A trio of car thieves ripped doors off scores of Jeep Wranglers parked on streets in Queens, then hawked the parts on eBay - pocketing as much as $100,000, police sources said yesterday.

"I went to move my car and there were no doors on it," one of the victims told cops while reporting the bizarre theft. "It was the strangest thing."

Two of the alleged thieves, Jose Urbina, 41, and Ivan Mendoza, 46, both ex-cons who live in Manhattan, were arrested early yesterday. Cops were hunting for a third suspect, police sources said.

Investigators cracked the lucrative scam after one of the victims spotted doors that had been stolen off her 2006 Jeep Wrangler on eBay. The victim - described by one source as a police buff and by another as a private investigator - called the NYPD auto crimes unit.

Armed with the tip, investigators began monitoring eBay, contacted those selling Jeep doors on the popular online auction site and made three undercover buys between July 10 and July 28, the sources said.

Undercover cops met separately with Urbina and Mendoza at least twice near Francis Lewis Blvd. and paid about $800 for each pair of black-market doors, the sources said. In each case, the vehicle identification numbers had been removed, a law enforcement source said.

Detectives connected the ex-cons to the sales of about $30,000 worth of stolen doors, but sources said the final take would end up being closer to $100,000. It can cost up to $5,000 to get the doors replaced by a reputable mechanic.

Most of the vehicles targeted were 2004 or 2005 Wranglers parked in the 104th Precinct, which covers Ridgewood and Glendale, the sources said.

But NYPD detectives are sharing information with Nassau County police to see if the crime spree spread into Long Island, a source said.

Urbina was arraigned last night on charges related to the illegal sale of vehicle parts, possession of stolen property and the removal of vehicle identification numbers. He was ordered held on $1,500 bail. Mendoza was waiting to be arraigned on the same charges, authorities said.

Urbina's lawyer, Pamela Jordan, said her client did not know the doors were stolen. A spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said the suspects each face up to four years in prison, if convicted. Urbina has prior convictions for criminal possession of stolen property and weapons possession. Mendoza has three grand larceny arrests on his record.

As cops searched for the third suspect, who sources said has ties to Florida, several sellers on eBay were still offering Wrangler doors for about $1,300 a pair.

Cops investigated a similar series of car door thefts in Flushing last December, but investigators have not connected those crimes to Urbina and Mendoza, the sources said.

RE: What a disappointment….

Yea thats really messed up... I may have a lead on my parts... There was a white Mustang aroung town that had a smaashed front end before my parts were stole. I saw it yesterday and there was a new front end on it but it was a really bad bomb can red from white and it was easy to tell... white showing through everywhere and so forth. the vin number should be on the fenders and stuff right?? I'm gonna get the license number next time i see it for when i file the police report. I don't want to just get sccusatory but this is a small town right around 17,000 people and coincedences like that just don't happen... Funny the car even had the exact same wing.
