Best sub combination

Hey guys I am trying to think of a custom sub setup to go in my car, and can't decide whats best. I have come up with a few options, and need opinions. I plan on using a budget sub like a Kicker Comp, CompVR, RF PunchHE, Alpine TypeR, PPI C1s etc... These are the options I have come up with (excuse the ghetto-ness). The box is going to be custom and under the package shelf.

#1-3 10s in a ported box with the ports at the bottom, sep. chambers.

#2-3 10s ported, common chambers, 1 big port.

#3-2 12s ported, common chambers, 1 common port.

#4-3x12s sealed.

I also could do 3x10s sealed, etc... I just want the most bump for the buck on a TIGHT budget. I have someone to build the box for me thats a PRO and a 1/2 with wood, so thats no problem.

RE: Best sub combination

3 10's would give you the most overall cone area, but I would definatly stick to separate chambers. It's safer on the subs if one were to blow.

Have you thought about getting 1 high quality sub rather than 2 or 3 cheapo subs? One 12" or 15" XXX would most likely pound harder than 3 Alpine, depending on how much power you are going to run. The XXX has the highest lineat xmax out of any sub period, meaning it can get much louder while still sounding clean. What is your budget and what amp will you be running?

RE: Best sub combination

The only amp I have right now is a Kicker KX120.2 (60x2, 120x1 RMS). I am using it to power an OLD school Kicker 15". I am trying to keep the project in the $500-$700 range total. I don't need something to blow the doors off the car, just something to give my passengers a headache.

RE: Best sub combination

The ED A series is another phenomanal sub, but I would hold off until their new design comes out, which should be soon. Overall the new design corrects the few flaws the current A series has, and will have incredible throw, for a sweet price. Paul, have you seen the video for it yet? I'll have to find a link for you.
