I know some prefer to listen to their engine run, i did too when i had my mustang, but i like LOUD-CLEAR music. If i choose i can turn up Skynrd and hear everything except outside noise, i can hear the slide on the strings of the electric guitar even. So this is what i was looking for how many of us Lincoln enthusiasts have aftermarket stereos, list what you have what you like or even what you want i just want to get an idea of how other lincoln guys like their music, you can even tell what songs you just gotta turn up a little while cruisin down the road. :D

My current system in the '93 consists of:

4 RockFord Fosgate HPC 2268 6x8 coaxial speakers - 150 watt
Alpine CDA9847 AM/FM/CD/MP3/IPOD Receiver - 50W x 4
Alpine MRPF240 4 channel Amplifier - 50W x 4
Elemental Designs NINe.1 Class D Amplifier 900 watts RMS @ 2 Ohm
Elemental Designs 13Ov.2 Subwoofer w/ Dual 4 ohm Voice Coils @ 600 WRms

The '96 came well equipped with...

Sony headunit capable of playing MP3s
4 Infiniti Kappa speakers and an Infiniti amp
Two Audiobahn 10inch Subwoofers 900watt RMS each
HCT2200 Audiobahn amp
1 Farad Audiobahn capacitor

RE: Stereo Mods

I have rainbow pro 3ways in custom kickpods up front with an older than dirt alpine cd player, powered by a kicker SX900.4 bi-amped so the midbass gets it's own channels. I had a Kicker L7 powered by an Ampman revolution 1500.1 but the sub should be sold this week so as for now i am subless :-(

RE: Stereo Mods

now that cdt audio is making amps now im about to do a full system with them 2-4 12s depending how ambitious i get 3 way components up front 2 ways in rear already have a kenwood 8017 dvd player and xm converter

RE: Stereo Mods

Alpine CDA-9815 headunit
All Infinity separates with crossovers.
Rockford Fosgate 200W 4 channel amp.
Need a good Base tube or small kicker box that i can pull out of trunk on drag racing nights. i just dont know which one to get. I've got the whole system cutoff so it doesnt go below 80 hz. Definately needs a sub to complete.

On a side note, i like the same Alpine headunit and Kenwood Excellons i have in my truck ALOT better than the Infinitys in the Lincoln. And the truck doesnt have an amp, just using the Alpines 60W X 4 outputs.

1995 DK Blue Lincoln Mark VIII
1998 DK Blue Chevrolet 1500 P/U

RE: Stereo Mods

Thats interesting id never guessed the infinitys to be less of a competitor, maybe the locations and/or imaging is better in the truck, tough to tell sometimes. I would use 2 10s in a small sealed box to give a nice kick but not be too boomy my 12s kick like a real bass drum, and can hit the rediculus lows also i like the 3 12 inch setup over all my previous systems 4 10s, 2 15s, 2 12s, 3 10s, ive had a bunch of different stereos but if you want let me know what kind of music you listen to most and i can give a better opinion. if you want it of course.

I like the 4 12s idea sounds like fun ;) id do it if i didnt need the trunk, well id actually go with 6 12s and 2 2000w rms amps but thats a whole nother story

RE: Stereo Mods

Haven't installed them but when I do I will have one of the loudest and clearest mark VIIIs on the planet. And considering that verythign was new they were all great values. Look for stuff that isn't big name and has mroe research and development instead of marketing behind it. Names like Resonant Engineering, Adire Audio, and a lot more.

Once I install it I wil have a Clarion DXZ545MP, HiFonics Brutus BX1500D run @ 2 ohms, Kove Armageddon Z15D in a 2.75L sealed enclosure....all in time....

RE: Stereo Mods

kove armageddon is a serious woofer, i personally dont like 15s becase 12s sound tighter to me. just personal preferance, but you got the right idea marketing dont mean $h1te its all about quality and performance
