I was wondering if anyone has ever raced an Impala SS...one of the older ones from the 90's

Ya know, usually black w/ the LT1 engine.

If so how'd you do?

RE: Impala SS

they usually run low 14"s with simple stuff like exhasut chip, ect.

But aftermarket parts are cheap for these cars So they can be a lot quicker most of the time.

RE: Impala SS

I raced a 95 or 96 Impala SS and we were Just about Even, When I began pulling on him Hard. He was amazed as well as I, and was asking me what I had done to the car, When I only had the New Mufflers. He was shocked. So it was a race and a victory, but sorta a short race. He had some 30 or 40 series Flowmasters with a re-built engine I believe, He said. Also had a 125 Shot of Nos in the trunk. Beautiful cars, But Mark VIII's are still on top ;)

RE: Impala SS

At the 1st Southern SuperHeavy Shootout there were 76 Impala SS and 20 Marks. 15 Mark VII's and 5 Mark VIII's. The Impalas times ranged from mid 15's to high 10's. The Marks ranged from mid 15's to high 11's. The fastest Mark VIII ran in the mid 13's. There were at least 3 LOD members racing. From a distance the 76 black Impalas looked like someone disturbed an ant hill.

RE: Impala SS

sounds like they are easily within range of a win.

Stock vs Stock

Also, I hate how they mainly came in black. I've seen a FEW blue SS Impalas....kind of ruins the whole "unique" factor of the car.

RE: Impala SS

Yea this guy had a light Blue. Actually a nice looing color. Looks way Better than The Usual Black.

RE: Impala SS

this guy around town painted his white, slammed, with some nice rims and great exhaust note. looks beautiful. theres alot in this area to race but most are supercharged so id get my ass handed to me.

RE: Impala SS

I raced an SS in the 1/4 at the track. He got the jump, but I eventually reeled him in and passed him. I think he ran a 15.4 to my 15.2. His car did have an exhaust....I don't think it was a stock exhaust. But, like these guys have said, they can be made much faster.

RE: Impala SS

Man the impalla's here must either be really fast or the guys are lying ot me about their mods.

RE: Impala SS

I've raced a couple of Impalas. One was at the track and he had a bunch of mods. Just bolt on stuff though. He was running in the high 13's, so i had no chance. The other one was on the street. It was real close, but i had a 350 lb passenger so i lost. Had i been alone i think i could have won, it was that close.
