Well, it was fun. Some had more fun than others though. When we got there, it was raining. It rained until about 12:30, then we started drying the track. They asked anyone with street tires to drive up and down the strip to help dry it. It didn't help that there was no sun.
But Jeremi and Martin were there, I was there with my friends Dave and Mike (dave's car wasn't ready, but they brought both of Mikes cars, an '89 SC and a '95 V8 LX thunderbird with 4.10's), my coworker Charlie showed up with his Crown vic, and Dave's coworker Paul showed up with his Fairmont.
We started running at about 2:30. Which was no good for Jeremi, because he had to leave at 3. I think he got two runs in, and neither went very well.
Jeremi's mark didn't put up any good times, i think he was still in the 15's both runs, with 4.10's. Martin's honda didn't break out of the 16's, but he only got a couple of runs in as well.
Both of Mikes cars were stuck in the high 15's, both with a best right around 15.7. Plus, the SC broke. We had a trailer, though, so we got it back. We'll be figuring out what it is today, my money says it's either a ujoint or a rear end. The speedo jumps but the car don't move. I guess that's what happens when you put slicks on a 4000 lb car with 330 ft-lbs of torque, then drop the clutch at about 4 grand.
The Fairmont ran a best of 12.58. He's running an NA 5.0, obviously with plenty of mods. The motor in it was in a different car last year, and that car (with that motor) was featured in one of the stang magazines recently.
Charlie's Crown Vic (police interceptor model, 10k miles) ran a best of 15.3. He has exhaust, 3.55 rear end, and a jerry tune. I'm pretty sure that's it.
It was pretty crowded, despite the weather, plus we didn't get started till 2:30, so i only got about 8 runs in. Compare that to the 3 runs i got a great lakes this summer. Plus this is actually a decent track, and i only had a wheelspin problem on 1 run.
Here's what i ran:

Note that i included the Tazzo results for 60' and 1/4 mile times and MPH. On run #2 i was rolling when i punched it, so i'd throw that one out if you're trying to evaluate the effectiveness of the Tazzo. For the rest of the runs, it was damn near dead nuts on for the 1/4 time, and more consistent than i expected for 1/4 mph (i thought it would read consistently high). 60' times are a little rough, but they're still within a couple of tenths for all of them, and within a tenth for most of them. 1/4 mile times were really close for most of my runs. I don't know what happened on the last two, i launched just like i launched on all the other runs. I think the Tazzo assumes a certain rollout, and if you stage shallow or deep it can throw it off a little bit. But i had both staging lights lit on all of my runs, so it could only have varied by about 6".
My new best et is 14.784. My new best 60' is 2.160. My new best mph is 98.968. I am SOO close to 100 mph in the 1/4. Come springtime my car will be faster though . Note that i achieved my best mph on my last run, which is the only run i made with the car fully warmed up. I pushed the car to the line on all my runs but the last run, i didn't even shut it off or pop the hood in the staging lanes. I made all my runs with everything in the car, spare tire, subwoofer, seats, even the beer cans on the floor in the back seat. I also made all my runs at a lower height than stock. Most of the runs were just a couple of inches lowered, the last run was all but slammed (front slammed, just a little bit of suspension in the rear). I think the lowering of the car helped, esp. at the top end of the track.
BTW, is there any possible way we could make doing tables on the board any less user friendly? All i wanted to do was use spaces to lay it out, but the stupid software deleted all the spaces and made me revert to using a mishmash of HTML code, and it doesn't line it up right.
