Gtech times!

I am a little disappointed but I can live with the results.

This is with a FULL tank of gas. I filled her up and then went out for the 0-60's right after, "Your only as fast as your slowest component". I went out yesterday and was HORRIFIED with my times. They were like 8.40, 8.8..... I could not get ANY traction with the TC off, so today I decided to leave the TC on and just have the O/D off, the results were much better!

Temp 53'
Humidity 28%

0-60 times

6.75 shifting
6.77 shifting
6.76 in Drive

I hope to improve these times with some practice off the line.

RE: Gtech times!

Sounds like good 0-60 times to me. At nearly stock, the last 0-60 times I recorded with the Tazzo was in the 7.2-7.6 range with quite poor launches at 2500 feet altitude.

RE: Gtech times!

You guys are makeing the first gens look bad. My first 10 tries or so were all 6.8 range. But I got it down to where I'm hitting 6.3 now and not going higher than a 6.5. Still can't get under a 14.7 in the 1/4 though.

(nelson) HA HA (/nelson)

I can hear my 2nd gen from here laughing at you :p

Seriously though, without traction, you get very bad times, I went through the same thing getting 7.5+'s at first, wish we had a decent street empty around here.

RE: Gtech times!

What works best for you guys? TC off/on OD off/on. I want to hone in on my launches.

I have two mods 1) Steeda crank pulley only 2) Ram air set up, not sure if this works right, dont we need chips for MAF mods?

RE: Gtech times!

Yeah I find that it is definitely better with the od and tc off. Manually pushin the gears should produce a much better off the line than letting the trans do all the work.

RE: Gtech times!

For curiousity I took out the '93 for a spin(pun intended), and after a couple of 0-60 runs on the Tazzo, the best 0 to 60 time was 6.74. Temperature was 33 degrees and humidity 70% at 2500 feet elevation. 6.7X seemed OK with not so bad launches, but still some lingering traction issues. I feel there are better launches to be had.

Bad launches with significant tire spin yielded much higher 0 to 60 times, usually 7 plus. And watch out for wet spots this time of year! The 1-2 shift at the wrong place can be quite suprising.

BTW, I resigned a long time ago that my car launched best with T/C and O/D both off. I leave mine in drive and let the chip do its magic.

Now it comes to mind, somewhere I read the best launch could be had by shifting into park, then back into drive with the brakes on, before stomping on it from a dead idle. Is this a myth or what?
